A Dog Named Brian
Sadly, this will probably never happen. I could actually see him going to Cleveland to reunite with Arians if they were able to successfully coax him out of retirement

FalconsIn2012
Bowles is just a name you know. His defenses have not been great...and his preference is a 3-4. Jets' defense is a disaster -- and that might be biggest indictment of Todd Bowles Updated on Nov 25, 2018 at 10:59 PM EST Injured quarterback Sam Darnold and Jets' chairman and CEO Christopher Johnson talk before the New York Jets host the New England Patriots in NFL action at MetLife Stadium. 11/25/18 East Rutherford, N.J. (John Munson | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com) Tom Brady talks to teammates before the New York Jets host the New England Patriots in NFL action at MetLife Stadium. 11/25/18 East Rutherford, N.J. (John Munson | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com) By Darryl Slater | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com CLOSE Email the authorFollow on Twitter Another week, another defensive disaster for the Jets, who are coached (though surely not for much longer) by the defensive-minded Todd Bowles . The inability of Bowles' coaching staff to develop a quarterback or craft even a semi-creative/effective offensive game plan will no doubt be a focal point this offseason, as the Jets seek Bowles' replacement. But it is becoming clear that Bowles' defense -- because of talent, scheme, or some combination of the two -- is also a mess that needs cleaning. Bowles has not fielded a consistently good defense since 2015, his first season. And that reality -- underscored by the past two games' defensive fiascos -- is perhaps the biggest indictment of Bowles' head coaching abilities. The Jets allowed 498 yards Sunday in a 27-13 loss to the Patriots (246 in the first half, 252 in the second) -- their second-most total yards allowed under Bowles, behind the 503 they surrendered in Jacksonville earlier this season. (And that was their most since 2008.) In five of their 11 games this season, the Jets have allowed 400-plus yards, with 428 being the low number in that group. The Jets allowed 400-plus yards five times last year, three times in 2016, and twice in 2015. After finishing fifth in Football Outsiders' defensive DVOA ratings in 2015, the Jets slipped to 21st and 18th the next two years. They entered Sunday's game 12th in defensive DVOA. But for the second straight game, they were a joke on defense. In Week 10, the Jets allowed 451 yards and six plays of 20-plus yards against a Bills offense that entered the game 32nd in DVOA. The Patriots -- ninth in offensive DVOA -- hung 10 such plays on the Jets. In the third quarter, with the game tied at 13, the Patriots diced the Jets for a four-play, 75-yard touchdown drive that included two gains of 27 yards, and then a 21-yard touchdown pass. "That's really bad," said defensive end Leonard Williams. "At least make them work for it." The Jets (3-8) have lost five straight games -- their longest skid under Bowles -- and they have exactly zero takeaways during this stretch. (That's a Jets franchise record for most consecutive games without a takeaway.) "It's showing," said inside linebacker Darron Lee. For what it's worth, the Jets' defenders -- who had 15 takeaways in their first six games this season -- remain undeterred. "I think we are a legit defense," Williams said. "We'll give up one big play, and then the stats look a little twisted." Well, it's more than just one, obviously. Jets head coaching candidates That's how you blow a game against a superior opponent after battling to a 10-all halftime tie -- not enough adjusting, too much wilting in the second half. Safety Jamal Adams, who is having a strong season, insisted the Jets' defense is "not adrift." He's right. It is sinking. Manuel likely not going anywhere. But if he were, Bowles is just the kind of DC I'd be looking for if I were Quinn. It would be so much fun to have a really bonafide, top-notch DC come in here and turn this young, talented D into a cold-blooded killing machine. FalconFanSince1970
Bowles is a 3-4 guy. My favorite defense. That ship sailed in 2015 when we hired Quinn and his 4-3 BBDB. I still think we can make a couple moves in free agency and draft to build the defense Quinn wants. Dimi?

BlazerSlayer
As pointed out earlier, Bowles is a 3-4 preference coach, doesn't fit with Quinn. If Manuel is fired, it will almost certainly be Cowboys DB coach Kris Richard.
