JG2008
If we are always going to have mediocre OL at best...we need a QB that is a double threat not a Matt Ryan type QB this Dimitroff and Quinn regime has shown over the last 5 years that they are inept at picking O Line talent (and/or they just don’t make a great OL a priority) therefore why have a statue QB like Matt Ryan who is not a dual threat behind a sub par OL. either really ramp up OL starters and depth with the draft and FA and keep Matt Ryan, or keep the same ol sub par OL with no depth and trade Matt Ryan and get a great dual threat QB Edited December 16, 2018 by JG2008

Norwood all the way!
I'll agree to the premise but we know what we have in Ryan. He is an above average - great Qb and we can win with him. Who's to say we would pick the next Mahomes or Watson and not some underachieving nobody. Moving on from Ryan could put us back years and years. We need to get an OL for him. Make a pocket passers your franchise QB while not giving him a line or time to throw.. Things just arnt connecting with the organization right now

What SyCo said. I've been criticizing Ryan plenty, but this thread is acting like a dual threat QB is necessary when you have a bad line, when realistically, a decently mobile one who is talented in other areas is totally fine. Russell Wilson is the only true dual threat QB that I'd say is elite. Our OL is so bad we can't run either, though. We need a better OL or better scheming (ideally both). Sark needs demoted and we need Kubiak...jmho.

Geneaut
Hmmmm. What's easier to find? NFL quality OL or the elusive mobile QB with an NFL quality arm?

Realsurfin
See how long Lamar Johnson of the Ravens lasts if he keeps rushing like he did today. He was getting banged up.! I am sure Ravens fans are eating that up! One good hit and your pricey QB is on IR collecting a paycheck. Or worse... getting an acl knee injury repaired. No thank you. Jesus
100 wins 46000 yards 290 TDs MVP Yeah this team needs a different QB.
Bama4Life
Those guys don`t grow on trees or everybody in the league would have one. And they are one hit from the entire offense being changed to fit that of the backup QB`s they have on their bench.

The running QBs may be exciting to watch but they don’t win championships. Russel Wilson is the exception.

falcons007
That’s what she said after RG3 rookie season in 2012. I am still waiting for dual threat QB with agarbage defense to lead the team.

FalconFan13
I don't understand the thought process of a mobile or scrambling QB can succeed behind a bad o-line if we still stick with one. No QB can succeed behind a subpar o-line if you have no runnnig game or pass protection more than a second or 2. It's not like a mobile QB is faster than fricken lightning as alot of the defensive players coming after him is just as fast as him most of the time. If you see a mobile QB succeeding then 99% of the time it's because their o-line is atleast playing adequate for the most part or their defense is quite good and giving them alot of chances over and over again while keeping the other teams scoring lower so their defense can't just go after the QB while up big. If you are talking about in 2016 it wasn't his fault it didn't work he did his job the dude has the 4tf highest QB rating in superbowl history. Who you need to be blasting on is Jake Matthews, Devonta Freeman, and Kyle Shannahan for that superbowl loss. All 3 people who i think are great to amazing at their jobs and who i loved being falcons or still being falcons. But they crapped the bed and cost us a championship. Heck even after the sack Ryan and Sanu still got us back into FG range that Jake Matthews had to hold on putting us like 20+ yards back on 3rd down and out of Fg range. It got them to within 3 running plays of winning a SB against the freaking GOAT. With Mack playing with what amounted to a fracture in his leg, and our backup RT. Atlantafan21
Yeah, mobile QBs are fragile as heck. With our o-line they might not last a QB. Be thankful Matt is a dang iron man and can take the beating our o-line allows.
