This Sums It Up Perfectly For Me

People think this generation of kids is more screwed up than it actually is. But that's nothing new.

Instant gratification has been a popular non sequitur at least since I was a kid (I'm 35, I was an 80s baby and a 90s kid). I'm a fringe millennial. I've heard this same complaint about "this generation" passed on down literally my whole life. I'm going to assume it has been going for years before I existed and don't expect it to stop going after I'm gone.

I'm 31. So you only have a few years on me. This country is in the worst shape it's ever been and nobody wants to fix it. I have no faith that future generations will be able to fix it because no one knows the value of a hard earned dollar anymore. If it's not free it doesn't matter.

I completely disagree with your assessment of future generations. Prior generations are the ones that have screwed it up so much. Young people are bitter because they are left to pick up all the pieces from these blowhards screwing everyone over just to get rich. I have countless examples I could give you of young people working their ***** off and struggling just to get by. I think you’ve bought into this false idea of people in this country just looking for handouts. Even the athletes you’re talking about are putting in hours of work on a daily basis beyond their academic ruirements for a scholarship.

Yes, prior generations have run this country straight into the ground. But I have no hope current or future generations can fix them. I still remember all the fall out when Trump was announced as winning the election. Do you remember the thousands of college students in America that all of a sudden said they were too "depressed and heartbroken" to even go to class? Could you imagine? I don't know about how you grew up but with the way I grew up, you think my parents would have been understanding and sympathetic of me missing class because I was "distraught" about the person elected president? No, heIl no. I would have been told to suck it up, put my big boy pants on and get to class. I can't even begin to imagine how mentally weak a person has to be for that to happen.

I think a lot of that is just one side of the two sided partisan bs we’re constantly fed to keep us divided and easily manipulated. I was in college full time when he won the election, taking a political science course as a matter of fact. No one missed any of the classes I was in and I didn’t see anything like that personally. I don’t doubt that a lot of people were extremely distressed about him winning, but I think you’re taking an insignificant reaction by an insignificant number of people and applying it broadly.

Yeah I didn't see anyone miss class at my campus either.
