What kind of contract does Grady deserve

49 posts in this topic

Grady Jarrett will be up for a new contract for next year. He’s a very good player but not the same caliber as A Donald - F Cox. What’s he worth and does he get something comparable to those guys? How much do we spend on Grady?

GJ is a very good player and worthy of a nice contract but IDT he’s on the same level as AD and FC. Those guys can rush the passer and are very dominate IDLM. Grady has been solid but really hasn’t stepped up his pass rush other than the SB. I mean I want him to be here but I hope we don’t overpay.

They’re going to spend a ton.

Hes good, young, has been relatively healthy, and at a position of extreme need.

And more importantly this last week has shown the defense has NO hope without him... and you better believe his agent knows this.

No he won’t get Donald or Cox money but it’s  still going to be a hefty amount.  Probably top 5 DT money

He’s worth Top 5 DT money. Donald got Top 5 QB money. Grady isn’t worth that, but I won’t be mad if we slightly overpay. He’s legit.

I’d say 10-13 mil a year seems about right for what we’d give him. I’m not familiar with the DT market so I wouldn’t really know.

Me either, and while I love Grady, I'd feel a little better banking on Grady with more than the 3 sack sb. He's our entire interior and I know alot of what he doesn't isn't necessarily quantified by numbers, but yea not yet on those guys levels, yet, regardless of when he does or doest have others on the line to eat up attention.

He's a pass rushing DT and those guys create interest on the free agent market. His agent will push for 16m plus a year, and the latest contract for any player will usually raise the market level as the cap goes up. Our window was now with most of the defense on rookie deals and the offense at their peak.

Grady plays like a premier guy but he has not really been a premier guy.  The guys who got paid were putting up the stats to go with the effort.  I love Grady and the Falcons may have no choice but to pay him well but I don't see more than 12M x 4 with 3 guaranteed.  That's premium money that bridges what he has been and what we think he will be.  Grady may be motivated to push that given he is a force and someone may offer more. (Plus he did get screwed with the 5th pick but not Falcons fault).

Definitely no more than $15M per year on average. First few years should be team friendly closer to $12M. Personally, I don't think he is worth more than McCoy, but again when was Gerald's contract signed?

My guess is he will get signed. And according to half of our fan base, it will be for way too much money and will screw over the franchise long term

Dang....you guessed it! (Sounds like the guy on Christmas Vacation) LOL

Whatever they pay him, I wish the best for Grady Jarrett.  Here is a guy that has been an impact player for this team, and came into the final year of his contract, and never said one word about the Falcons not taking care of him before the season started.  He's never been paid, and the Falcons were stroking checks to guys that have already been paid.

I am big fan of Grady Jarrett, the man.  Won't think ill of him if he ends up somewhere next year, and I'll root for him.

Unless it's the Saints.  Can't do that.
