Reports out of LA indicating that Ryu may accept the Dodgers QO. That could throw the Dodgers stated goal of staying under the luxury tax cap for a loop.

Rangers fired pitching coach Doug Brocail. I always wonder how things like this goes between former players.

Woodward: "Doug this is a very difficult decision but we have to let you go."

Brocail: "Ah stick it in your ear!! You're only doing this cause you couldn't hit me!"

LOL!!

MLB announced an Elite Youth League. The league will invite 80 of the nations top high school players to participate in a summer league. The league will go from June into July and MLB hopes to expand it from 80 players with player demand. It will be free for those invited. The hope is it eventually gives more exposure and a better opportunity to play baseball. It will culminate on All Star weekend where the players will get a chance to have their own All Star game and HR Derby. The league is intended to give exposure to MLB teams and universities so that more players will hopefully pick baseball over other sports.

Astros assistant GM Mike Elias gets the big job of rebuilding Baltimore. Hes expected to he named Baltimore GM. He will also bring Sig Mejdal with him, Sid was just under Fast for analytics in Houston. Astros bench coach Joe Espada is a heavy favorite to follow as well and be the new manager.

Nice to see Baltimore get smarter.

That's the way it goes when you build a winner from the ground up and you do it with the new way of thinking that everyone wants to emulate.

In addition to removing the awful HR thing in CF, the Marlins are getting rid of the neon green walls and replacing them with blue walls. The space where the HR thing was will be turned into a fan zone area. Also, tomorrow is the day the Marlins will introduce their new logos and uniforms.

Jacob deGrom and Blake Snell are the Cy Young Award winners.

And the voting wasn't even close either for deGrom despite what some thought would be a close race due to his lack of wins (but superb other stats):

PLAYER/TEAM 1ST 2ND 3RD 4TH 5TH TOT
Jacob deGrom/NYM 29 1 0 0 0 207
Max Scherzer/WSH 1 29 0 0 0 123
Aaron Nola/PHL 0 0 27 2 1 86
Kyle Freeland/COL 0 0 2 17 9 49
Patrick Corbin/ARI 0 0 0 7 9 23
Miles Mikolas/STL 0 0 1 1 8 13
Josh Hader/MIL 0 0 0 1 2 4
Mike Foltynewicz/ATL 0 0 0 1 1 3

Scherzer lost it down the stretch. Cool to see Folty get a little love there.

I thought Folty would get a little bit more love than getting only 2 votes.

His start against us where we rocked him essentially cost him the award.

Phillies fired their pitching coach just to promote former pitcher Chris Young to the role. Word was the Braves and Marlins were among a few teams trying to talk to Young. Phillies didnt want to lose him so they made the decision to switch.

Hope the Braves hire Bryan Price unless there's some other better name out there I don't know about.

This was from SI yesterday:

"The Mariners are "re-imagining" their roster for 2019 and shopping ace pitcher James Paxton. The team is reportedly speaking to the Yankees and Astros about a trade involving Paxton, which appears to be imminent."

The strange part is that nobody else has the story right now, a full day later.

Either SI is really on tops of things or really struggling. They also said the Braves had offered Brantley a contract on Monday. Nobody else has confirmed it or mentioned it.

In this day and age, you just don't see one site reporting something that isn't immediately picked up by everyone else. It's really strange.
