Braves at Mets

Chip and Joe make a legit point, Sean Newcomb is going to have to figure out his sweating issue. This can't continue to happen. Changing undershirts and jerseys every couple of innings. Something. Please figure this out.

Then how do you explain Newcomb's last 4 road starts vs. his last 5 home starts? Below 2 ERA on the road vs. 11 plus ERA at home. How do you explain what happened to Julio last year? How do you explain the history of Rockies hitters like Charlie Blackmon who have a 200 point higher OPS at home than on the road?

Random noise from small samples.

Except where Colorado is a factor of course.

So confidence, or maybe a lack of confidence pitching at home couldn't possibly be the issue? It's just pure randomness? Guess Julio always stinking up the joint at Dodger Stadium is pure randomness too?

Would it be a surprise if Gabe Kapler got fired? It's clear as day to anyone watching the Phillies that the team has absolutely quit on him. They're not even going to reach 80 wins all of a sudden. They're now 2 games under .500 at 78-80 and have lost 10-1, 10-3, 14-0 vs. COL. Get this!! There's a chance that if the Mets win out and the Phillies lose out the Mets and Phillies would finish with the same record. That record would be 78-84. Think about that for a second.

Dodgers down 6-2 right now in the bottom of the 5th. If they lose tonight, the Rockies go a half a game up in the West with a chance to make it a full game tomorrow. With how the Phillies are looking right now, I wouldn't be shocked to see the Rockies beat them again.

There's also high drama in the NL Central. All of a sudden the Brewers are only 0.5 behind the Cubs. Both Cubs and Brewers have clinched playoff spots, but we could find ourselves with a Cubs vs. Dodgers WC game and that would be great for the Braves. It would knock out one of the major powers to be. The Cubs have 4 games left, 1 against the Pirates and 3 against the Cardinals, all in Chicago. Brewers have 3 games left. Brewers have 3 home games left against the Tigers. Schedule definitely favors the Brewers here for the chance to win the NL Central!! Braves shot to win the #1 seed in the playoffs is all but shot being 3 games behind the Cubs and 2.5 behind the Brewers. But that's perfectly fine with me, let the Brewers win the NL Central and then have to play the Cubs or Dodgers and let the Braves take on the Rockies. Best case scenario IMO. We could potentially be looking at a Braves vs. Brewers NLCS!!! That would be great!!

Philly GM announced Kapler will return. Kapler should be getting fired IMO. It's clear the team has completely quit. They were trying until the Braves eliminated them entirely. Since then they've been outscored 34-4 and have looked very bad in every phase of the game. The first 8 Philly hitters K'd last night. That streak ended when Pivetta got on base. Those guys are trying to attract the biggest free agents. Those FA's aren't going to like seeing this total collapse and the mess that Kapler has had all season.

Not bad, Newcomb just has to keep working on consistently throwing strikes. He'll get there, he's already improved a lot. He was the worst pitcher in MLB at throwing first pitch strikes. Did it just 54% of the time.

Diamondbacks win!!! Hello first place Colorado!!!

With this change last night the Dodgers are now the #2 WC. Cardinals are 1 game back there. Brewers clinched at least the #1 WC. Milwaukee is just 0.5 back of the Cubs. Cubs or Brewers will host STL, COL or LA in the WC game.

If we get the Rockies in the NLDS, and the Brewers in the NLCS, I would be so pumped. You still have to play the games, but that is about as good as it could get as you said.

Plus it would be awesome to see the Cubs and Dodgers have to knock one of them out...

The Cubs aren't a juggernaut this year. Theyve underperformed in some spots plus injuries. They're still a very good team but they aren't the force they have been in recent years.

They haven't been. But they've got the horses to flip the switch at any moment. That is what scares me about them.

That could happen. Going through the motions now but when the postseason hits they might lock in.

Braves will go Folty, Sanchez, Gausman this weekend in Philly. That pretty much lines up Folty to be the Game 1 starter. Snitker said they still could change it based on the opponent. Sanchez and Gausman will get Games 2 & 3 but we don't know what order yet.

Snitker said he has a stiff back. Could play tomorrow.

Would explain using Ruiz as pinch-hitter and not Duda in that clutch spot a couple nights ago.
