Richards trade may spell the end for Justin Bethel

Recommended Posts

I think the Richards trade  makes Bethel a casualty and Chris Lammons a sleeper.

I also think that if this comes to fruition, it gives us the youngest most versatile and Dynamic defensive backfield in the entire NFL!

Marquand Manuel's influence is starting to manifest intself in the secondary!

I was just remined by a friend that Bethel also spent significant time at reciver in camp....so it may be that one of the recievers is odd man out.  This cutdown may be harder tan originally thought but bottom line is:

We should see much better special teams play in 2018!

Especially the coverage units!

If you watched the game last night, this should be a very easy cut summer. There were no Jermaine Grace or JD McKissac this year. Our UDFAs simply stunk it up this year.

Can't disagree with that statement no matter how bad I want to…….Thanks TD!

Not going to lie, didn't watch much preseason because Iive out of market but these (possible) cuts are starting to worry me considering they were supposed to play a prominent role.

don't worry yet  the "official" list is very short so far

CB  4rd string McFadden(17 late season add)  injury settlement

OL 2nd string RT  Pasztor(17 Roster)  waived

SS 2nd string  Parker( new FA) Waived  BUT  Richards (newer FA) signed

In the past I've found that these early reports are about 85% true

If most of these are true the only real impact I see is at DE  short in #

I think that is a brilliant roster move, and hope you are right.

To *** with Bethel, and Lammons will be an NFL player somewhere.

I was thinking that Richards was a direct plug and play replacement for Parker--he looked bad in that last game

Parker is a safety---Richards is a safety

Bethel is a cornerback  the way you have it Lammons is his replacement

Lammons also played some corner and Dan Quinn has talked him up some.  He is versatile::

Report: South Carolina defensive back won't be going far for shot with NFL squad

Chris Lammons didn't hear his name called in the NFL draft, but he didn't have to wait long and won't go far for his first chance in the NFL.

The South Carolina football defensive back will sign an undrafted free agent deal with the Atlanta Falcons according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport. He was a multi-year starter at several positions at USC.

Lammons started 37 games in his Gamecocks career, moving between cornerback, nickel and, . He had 177 career tackles, 79 as a senior, and picked off three passes as a junior. His move to safety helped solidify a thin position in 2017.

He came to USC a four-star prospect out of Florida and grew from an up-and-down player into a steady presence for Will Muschamp's Gamecocks.
