Falcons Records That May Never Be Broken

71 posts in this topic

On November 17, 1991, the Falcons beat the Bucs 43-7. The Falcons scored a franchise record 33 points in the 2nd Quarter to take a 33-0 lead to halftime. Biggest halftime lead in franchise history.

No way do I see the Falcons ever topping this record.

Defense allowing an average of 9.2 points a game for a season. (1977 Atlanta Falcons defense)

Been talked about here before, today's NFL is just not set up to have that kind of defense anymore. The rule changes along with passing offenses through out NCAA and the NFL, free agency, parity. Not to mention thats a ridiculously low number of points over what is a now 16 game season.

In 2008 the Falcons set the all-time record of just 49 return yards total in a 16-game season.

Only way I see this beat is if they get rid of kick-offs.

That was just for punt return yards, not kick return yards.

But that one would be a hard one to break still.

You’re right, thanks.  I misremembered.

Most remote controls thrown against TVs in a single season - 2016

Along those same lines, I'll bet 35 million TV sets nationwide were turned off at the same moment on the night of Feb 5 2017.

3859 rushing yards by a QB, 1000 yard rushing season by a QB.

Ryan currently has the top 6 passing yardage seasons in franchise history, 7 of the top 10, he'll have the entire top 10 by the time he's done, doubt anyone else will do that.

Yes, although it was punt return yardage, and that was the other team's totals.

Oh okay.  Gotcha.

I was at that game.

I also saw where the Falcons scored 21 points in something like 35 seconds of clock time vs the Panthers in 1998. Fastest 3 Tds scored in NFL history if memory serves.

Only one I can think of is the #1 and #2 ranked Devin Hester and Deion Sanders for most kickoff/punt return TD's.

That in itself may be one of the toughest things to beat considering the rule changes. And both were Falcons!

Yeah, Falcons won that one like 52-17 or something and it was only like the 4th game of the season. The Falcons wore white at home in the Dome.
