Snap counts for the 2017 Falcons and the replacement for the top 4 snap counts missing from last year

187 posts in this topic

From FO.

The ones that are missing are in red. That's Poe, Ckayborn, Gabriel and Toilolo.

Poe and Clayborn are replaced by Senat and McClain, Gabriel by Ridley and Toi by Saubert and Paulsen

I know that McClain isn't an exact replacement for Clayborn.

Add Fusco, Paulsen, Ridley, Oliver, Senat, Smith to the names below, got a really solid team. If some of the second year players[ Kazee, Riley, Saubert] and a couple of the low round/UDFAs contribute, this could be a really deep team as well.

Hardy had more snaps than Gabe. Wow.

He isn’t. He’s replaced by Takk.

Tell that to Idae.

Who's replacing Takk and his six sacks off the bench?

Misleading, Clay had six in one game against Dallas scrub... For REAL, Clay is a 5 sack guy at most...

But he got them six. The year Beasley got 15.5 he was racking up sacks against sorry mofos like Sombrero who we traded a draft pick to acquire for some reason. Clayborn had more than 5.0 sacks in three different seasons.

Okay.  I guess the better answer on our end would be:  It's likely there's a developmental, rotational DE on the roster who Quinn feels is capable of giving us a close amount of the same production as Clayborn in relation to the number of extra snaps Takk will also play...

And who is that?

Of course Idae is gonna try to blow sunshine up our ases.

I'll be shocked if we don't have a drop off from:

Poe/Rubin/Upshaw to Senat/McClain/Crawford

Clayborn/Takk off bench to Takk/??? off bench

I'll be shocked if we're not a better team with:

Senat/McClain/Crawford to Poe/Rubin/Upshaw

Takk/???? to Takk/Clayborn off bench

Isn't it really just the same thing?

No I'm blowing reality up your as.

Time will tell.  I'm sure many Patriot fans thought reality when Bledsoe went down was they were gonna suck; same with Rams fans and Trent Green...

Our defense has improved every year; not generally on the backs of aging vets, but more often on the development of quality young talent.  I've no reason to think this year will be any different...

I’m so happy we signed Bethel and drafted Gage. Our special teams, specifically kickoff/punt coverage is going to be much improved. I’ll feel much better about them playing gunner on punt team than having Alford play 40% of special team snaps on top of his 99% defense.

A lot of people are forgetting about Crawford as well. He had like 3 or 4 sacks in limited preseason action, and was creating pressure the first few games of the season before his injury.

The hope is that Beasley looks more like 2016 than 2017, and Takk continues to improve. McClain had, by all accounts, a down year last year and had 2 sacks. Poe had 2.5.

I doubt we will *exactly* match our production from last year with different players. We might increase our production or we could not, but we have improved enough in other areas that I still see great things coming this year. Sorry you don’t feel the same, FFS70.

LOL....So multiple sacks in one game don't count?

This has been my main concern all offseason.

Love the Senat pick, but he is most likely gonna take awhile. McClain was awful in Washington last year, and Crawford was on IR.

I think the point they were making was in regards to long term replacement of production from losing Clayborn.

I don’t know if we have a 9.5 sack guy on the roster outside of Takk and Beasley, but I don’t think Clay is a 9.5 sack guy either. This conversation was beaten to death when he signed with NE. In 7 seasons he totaled 30 sacks, so 1/3 of his career total came last season. Outside of last season and his rookie season (7), he never had more than 5.5 in a season.
