Snafu
TATF, whatever. Schultz reporting 18-18.5 million guaranteed per year. Will we have the money to pay both Vic and Grady if this is the market that's been set for him?
FalconsIn2012
It’s the market for a top 5 edge rusher. People saying Vic won’t get over $10,000,000 per are dreaming. Grady will get 8-10 mill per as well. It’s why I’d be cautious about giving Matthews the 12-15 his agent will surely demand
NeonDeion
All depends on if Vic rebounds. And Clowney is finally becoming what people thought he would be. He’s flown under the radar. Vic needs to repeat his second year first.
Monolith2001
I love Vic and have always been a fan but he is looking more and more like a permanent nickel pass rush specialist than a 3-down guy like Clowney. I think the market will see him as that and he will not be given top money for that alone. He also needs to up his game. 2016 he had the stats but we all know a lot of that came from challenged RTs and he was largely invisible in big games. 2017 showed no improvement in pass rush and I was really shocked at how much he struggled at SAM given his ridiculous athleticism. I suspect we may let him test the market if he doesn't make some solid strides.
Faithful Falcon
If Clowney is getting that, then he's setting the league. He hasn't been that productive.
DoYouSeeWhatHappensLarry
No way Clowney gets $18m/yr worth of real guarantees over 5 years.
DoYouSeeWhatHappensLarry
It's arguably more important to retain Matthews than Beasley, TBH. Either way, both are sticking around and rightfully so.
Peyton
I kind of doubt Beasley will be resigned after his option year. Hard choices are going to have to be made with all the deals coming up, and i'll think he'll be one that ends up moving on to a team with more money to spend. But that still gives him two more years in Atlanta.

g-dawg
Wait a minute.....I have been told for years that Clowney was a BUST. How can this be?
E. T.
If anything....Vic and Grady should be setting up Clowney.

He's been fine. Not a bust but far from a homerun so far. Matthews has been a better player through the course of their career. EDIT TO ADD: That doesnt mean Clowney isnt on an upward trajectory. 1989Fan
I would draft and edge rusher in round 1-3 to just have a backup plan.

Tyquan Lewis from OSU could be a nice Day 2-3 target. Maybe Hercules Mata'afa on Day 3.

I think the 5 guys we build this D around is Grady, Beasley, Takk, Jones and Neal .....
Falcanuck
1. Clowney will not make 18mil guaranteed for 5 years 2. Vic will not make nearly as much as Clowney 3. Both Grady and Vic will be re-signed for around 10-12mil per year
ChickenBiscuit
Vic Beasley is closer to Bruce Irvin than he is Clowney. JD is proving to be a 3-down player, something that Vic has yet to prove. I wouldn't be surprised at ALL to see us draft a DE either this year or next year.

Tribal Chief
Unless Vic sniffs his production from a few seasons ago, I wouldn’t pay him that type of money at all. That’s just me though
