Here's what I don't get .. Wouldn't at least PRETENDING to entertain the idea of grabbing a new franchise QB be a better move strategically? I mean, we all know Matt isn't really going anywhere but in terms of the franchise showing that one man isn't bigger than the team it's safe to openly prove that they are aware of every last option. I'm sick of seeing this franchise hamstring itself honestly. Also in terms of the draft simply showing an openness to find competition at that one prized position could affect getting the player we REALLY want to fall .. We don't trade anybody of significance, we rarely sign free agents of huge significance, we don't make any significant trades down in the draft and we don't find legit competition at backup QB .. Falcons biz model is super predictable dude.

Hmmmmm you mean the business model that's built a team under a new coach in the last 3 years that's been knocking on the door for the SB you mean that predicatable model.

Ok I'm sold sign me up.

heard 92.9 the game was blasting ryan and his camp for this whole contact holdup.

Yep. Listening to Dukes and Bell right now, it's hilarious everyday they have this "Matt Ryan contract watch day (17)!!!!" No word on it yet. They've been complaining for days (or weeks at this point) about how this contract hasn't been done yet while other teams have the free cap space to make the moves now.

"When the Falcons say, 'There's no timetable,' that means, 'As far as we're concerned right now, Matt Ryan is asking for too much money,'" Joel Corry said, a former NFL agent and current contract/cap analyst for CBS Sports.

"The Falcons' best argument is, 'We've got other people to take care [of],'" Corry said. "What else can they say? They can't say, 'Well you haven't achieved the things as these other highly paid quarterbacks have.' How many playoff wins does Kirk Cousins have? Zero. How many playoffs wins does Matt Stafford have? Zero. Jimmy Garoppolo hasn't even started a full season yet."

This is all true, for more information, go click on this link below.

But how about Tom Brady? Shouldn't he be the highest paid QB every year since he's supposed to be the greatest QB of this era? Oh wait....

$100,000.000 4 years guaranteed, 2 year incentive based extension. Take a look at Ryan, you'd think he played in Green Bay. He looks like he's 40 already. After what we paid Freeman and Trufant, I can't imagine what Ryan wants. If Rodgers get's his deal done first, Ryan's going to want more that him. ****ed if you do, ****ed if you don't.

There's no point in pretending that some other QB is going to come in and challenge Matt, one Matt doesn't need anyone to push him, two, anyone good enough to push him is going to be too much money, three, it's crazy to get rid of a franchise QB teams just don't do that.

Falcons went to the Super Bowl with Ryan taking 15% of the cap, Ryan's next contract will take up a smaller % of the cap, esp. the first 3 years. No  reason for the team to be hamstrung.

No one would believe the falcons are drafting a QB, it just doesn't work like that.

Mack,Sanu, Gabriel, Robinson, Poe, Clayborn, Reed, Shelby- all significant FAs, Levitre through a trade, looks to me they work through all channels available. Have to have someone to trade back with.

I take it grooming a young QB under Matt is just out of the question .. Matt's cap hit isn't what worries me it's the philosophy of this franchise and it's yearly contradictory-ish actions which only began to change when a new HC & backup GM were brought on board. Well isn't that a head scratcher? The GM needs a competitive backup but the QB doesn't? The offensive coordinator needs a competitive backup but the QB doesn't? Our star wide out needs a competitive backup but our QB doesn't? Wow, that's really saying something ..

And most of us who actually had to watch this team in the 70s, 80s, and 90s is fairly OK with flirting with championships instead of watching the likes of Billy Joe Tolliver or Turk Schonert QB the team.

This post is so bad.

First off Ryan knows how valueable he is to us. He leaves and our Superbowl hopes are gone. Pretending to be interested in a QB isnt doing anything for us when it comes to negotiating with Ryan.

Second, we dont make any big draft trades? You forget about Julio? We also traded up for both Takk and Trufant.

We signed Alex Mack whos a pretty big acquisition. How many good teams are constantly signing big name FAs?

It's more baby boomers in our generation and as remiss as I am about missing the 70's, which I've been told was a great time to be alive, I wanna see a Championship in my lifetime. Our generation doesn't have much love for 2nd-placers unfortunately.

Don't get me wrong I do to but you can't be serious bagging this team right now compared to what the team has been pre blank ownership. The model they are using now has us very close we just have to finish the job.

The Rankin Smith owned Falcons was a train wreck in comparison.

Nothing you or your generation of fans do or does will ever have an impact on the W/L column of the Falcon's franchise. So if you guys don't like 2nd place finishers you are in for a rude rude awakening in life.
