Well, we actually have 11.5 months to get something done & even up to 23.5 months should we have to use the franchise tag on him for 2019 (won't ever get to that point in all likelihood, but just pointing out that it would be an option). I'm a goof. Can't believe I forgot about the franchise tag as the last ditch option. Thanks.

It's all good, man. With everyone so focused on the numbers others are getting & how it will effect Matt's deal, as well as the timing of his deal & speculations on it effecting free agency, it's easy to be thinking mostly about right now & overlook the down the road possibilities. It'd be awesome to get it done sooner than later, but at this point there really is no reason for either side to rush things. If anything, there's an argument that could be made as to it being more beneficial to the Falcons to draw it out a bit. Matt's camp isn't going to want to risk him going into the season & getting hurt w/ no deal beyond this season in place. So, if negotiations are still going on during camp/preseason, Condon/Ryan may cave a little to know they have security for the future. NobisFan60
These are only guaranteed future HoFers playing in the league right now: Brady, Brees, Rodgers and Roethlisberger. Ryan, who has all the career credentials except winning a Super Bowl -- which he very nearly did,. Had he won in Houston, Ryan would have gone from a near-zero chance to a near-100 percent chance at the Hall. Time will tell if he joins the shoe-ins. IMO he's got 4 years.
