Here’s to hoping we DO NOT resign Andre Roberts!

Yeah, Roberts had a pretty bad year and I was as angry as anyone.

BUT...I also remember EVERY TIME he had a nice return (and there were several), they got called back because of a penalty (looking at YOU, Poole).

I'm not saying I want to keep Roberts, but without all the horrible play by his special teams mates, we probably wouldn't be discussing this.

I was just about to say this...it wasn't all on him...

If the return blocking and ST penalties don't improve it doesn't matter who is at returner, its gonna be the same result. Roberts had a few very nice returns called back for penalties.

Our Return Man not making us start inside the 10 two times a game would be nice.

This probably takes him out of the running for this team though you know “Falcons Filter” and all.

Weaknesses

Has run into troubles off the field time and again. Scouts say he is liked by Florida staff but not trusted. Loves to compete on the grass but not as enthusiastic in weight room or film room. Lacks strength and can improve toughness when challenged. Hands are a little inconsistent. Routes can become frenzied and hurried. Needs to harness explosiveness. Slow getting into his breaks due to lack of hip sink. Same issue stalls his change of direction as route-runner. Gives away his out-breaking routes. Despite talent, just seven touchdowns over his final two seasons.

Oh, the irony. :D

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2017/returns.htm don't know what you're talking about. He was 3rd in kick return yards.

Just let one of the WRs or RBs do it. There are a handful of difference makers at the position in the whole league. The Falcons are unlikely to get one, there are fewer and fewer kickoffs being returned... don't waste a roster spot.

the problem with those stats are the ones he brought out from 5 or more yards deep and got back to the 15 or 18 yard line. good average for yards, still not as good as a touchback for field position, and he did that way too many times

Yep.    People can post numbers that add up to basically nothing when you consider the context.

How many lost fumbles did Roberts have this season only 1 that’s pretty good for a returner I’m not so sure a rookie would match that.

There it is. As unspectacular as the guy was returning kicks, he rarely fumbled. And I'm not sure he ever fumbled or at least I can't recall one.

With the exception of the off the field troubles, he tested good at the Combine. Looking at the gauntlet, he had some of the best hands there.

He was honestly one of the worst return specialists I’ve ever seen I would’ve killed to have weems back last season. Here’s to getting a much better returner this season anyone know a good free agent out there? Lol

100%.

If they were to bring him back, it would be the worst decision of the TD era. Perhaps not the most impactful, but the worst.

He was so so so bad.

Because he kept taking the ball out of the end zone and getting it to the 19.

He was awful. And the biggest reason that our starting offensive line of scrimmage was the worst in the league.

It's worth noting that a number of those returns wouldnt have happened had the penalty not happened.

I dont know that I've been less impressed by a Falcons roster player since like Jason Webster.
