Alex Mack signing was not that. Older players with high salaries are on the cut line all the time. Nobody else is going to give up a 3rd rounder for Michael Bennett. 3rd round draft picks are not given in trades for anything less than a QB - if 30yr old or older. Patriots only got a 2nd rounder for Jimmy Garoppolo who just got paid $20mm+ per year. You give it away too easy. Ok. I bet my mocks and FA predictions have been on par, or as better than yours. im not draftnut do you even know what Bennett’s salary is? Or are you talking out of your rear? We’re not talking huge dollars or a high pick. Look at third round production overall . youre talking about a legit SB contending team with a vet QB. You take smart risks. Dumping his contract to Seattle and getting Bennett in return is almost like an even swap in terms of cap. Freeman has concussion issues. Coleman has fresher legs. And to your point, we can draft another RB in the middle of the draft. I’ve always liked Freeman. But I don’t think he’s a life time Falcon like many people here suggest. I honestly don’t know. I’m bad with cap numbers.

He had rough patches, but I’m not ready to give up on him. i like Braden Smith in fourth, or someone similar. Sign a vet and let all compete These things are easy fixes. We don’t HAVE to get a OG in the 1st because Wes did decent for a 1st year starter. Levitre’s injury concerned me more than Wes did. I think we go DT in the 1st again and then maybe OG. Unless we get a DT in FA. We don’t have any holes on the team but I see folks talking about the oline like we have holes. We don’t. We have to prepare for levitre’s Replacement and let Wes and the new OG battle it out. Folks seem to think we’ll draft an OG and just toss Wes. That’s not how you build a winner. You create an atmosphere of competition. So whoever we draft there will be a position battle with Wes being the incumbent. The young guy will have to beat him out. So you’d rather have a third round prospect than a proven DL starter with at least three or four years left in the tank? No but I'd rather trade a 5th or later because I know Ive got to stump up that salary.I know I wouldn't give away a mid rounder for him.For me I think we have the leverage and we shouldn't act like we are the ones that really need Bennett. To me he's a want not a need.I can easily double dip in the draft and get what we want aswell. Its just a business deal I see all I feel giving away draft capital is like giving away the golden ticket and I treat my draft picks accordingly. I just know that Freeman has higher trade value and his health is also more concerning at this time. He’s taken on more punishment and he’s considered a “star” running back in this league. Business decision 100%.

And a SB window is small. We’re in win now mode. The offense will get back to scoring and Bennett improves and already very good defense. I we were a depleted team I wouldn’t do a third. My biggest targets are DT and OG in the 1st and 2nd. Bennett in the 3rd takes care of dline. Get a WR/CB/RB/TE in the 4th or 5th. Losing a 3rd for Benett doesn’t hurt us. We’re a good piece or two and better offensive execution away from winning a SB.
