Maybe trade with the giants our 1St and extra 7th for their 1st

In second round? It will take lot more than that trade to pull it out of.

Depends on how high we'd have to go

For reference, the Redskins have been rumored to be looking to move down. They have pick #13.

Last year, the Chiefs moved from 27 to 10 with Buffalo, and had to give up their 1st, 3rd, and this year's 1st. Meanwhile, the Texans moved up to 12 from 25 with Cleveland, and gave their 1st, and this year's 1st. Keep in mind however, that both moves were for QBs, so the asking price goes up, and when the buyer is put in a place where they, for all intents and purposes, have to make the trade, then the seller gets to set the asking price.

All in all, assuming we have no one to compete with for such a trade, moving that high up would likely cost us "at least" our 1st and our 2nd, unless they'd be wiling to take our 3rd or 4th this year, and our 2nd next year, this assuming that we would be unwilling to part with next year's 1st (I assume).

It might take next years first, too much draft capital for Vea.

Well im talking about more on the field play .... I agree Vea is athletically ultra gifted ... My thing is... I like Settle first step and burst off the line more ...

I have some more thoughts on this but i didnt bring this up because i want to start a who is better....  I bring this up because most likely vea is going top 10-15 ... and Settle is going late first to 2nd round ...

Just interested  in yalls opinion on the 2

Get off - I'd agree with Settle's first step. I don't know if I've every seen a 330 lb guy fire off that fast. Vea is just average in this category to my eyes.

Power - Vea, no contest. However, if we're talking effective power in a game, Settle is slipper for a big guy and that slippery evens the playing field out because they are both plenty powerful to do damage in the  NFL.

Foot race- slight edge to Vea, both a stupid fast for their size.

Stamina - This is my major concern with Settle. I have no concerns with Vea in this area.

Honestly, if Vea is the guy to put this defense over the top long-term I'd do that trade in a heart beat.

Our defense would already have young building blocks in Beasley, Jarrett, Takk, Jones, Neal and Vea... with so much young talent I honestly think we can do without a first.

Projecting to next year, our biggest hole could very well be a RB to replace Coleman.

I don’t think Vea would be that guy, even Poe wasn’t that guy. I would see them doing for a once in generation talent like Julio.

If Vea falls out of the top ten, the price may start to get acceptable.

Settle for a man who is 330 lbs, struggles to hold up against double teams. He's still young but he looks more like a big 3 tech to me.

Vea is maybe the most dominant run defender to come out in years. Add in the athleticism, that is mind blowing for a guy his size, and the ability to bring interior pressure. If I had a top 10 pick, Vea would be in the equation.

Saw that, **** impressive for a man his size

Expect him to be among our private workouts and our private visits

I edited this post because I thought he weighted far more than the 260 that was posted.

Still gonna take next years first and a 2nd-3rd to get up to 10-15

And We can’t afford to keep trading away valuable picks...

Absolutely, need those picks to build bench strength when we have to have cheap talent to have space to re-sign the studs.

some say second round picks are the most valuable in the draft based on talent level vs contract.

I feel like both are 2 down players in our system ..   So no way would I trade up ...

That's part of the reason why I add value to settle .. you can get him later.

Can't lie u thought his 10 yard split would be better

The way Vea and Payne are testing, Im hard pressed to see them making it to 26. Bryen is testing well so he may not make it either. With Hurst's heart condion there is no other DT I would take day one. Settle is not testing well at all. BJ Hill from NC State is looking good.

Yea I see us grabbing a guard in the 1st rouND .. that's where the value and need meets to me for us ...   I think this is a good DT draft for our need (a run stopper) ... We can grab one in the 2nd or 3rd round.

I'm interested to see how these edge rushers look tho

I believe we can get a DT in the 3rd. I would go OG, WR, and DT.

Helll no. DT is way more important than a WR

Vea is a complete monster, and in a few years will be in the discussion for the best defensive player in the league. Settle I think will be alright, maybe borderline pro bowl caliber, but not on the level of Vea.

Washington at 13 has been mentioned as a team wanting to trade down. I am not sure 13 would be high enough to draft Vea. Like the other posts in this thread have said, it would be a hard decision for a team that had not a lot of 2nd and 3rd round picks on the roster. On the other hand, history has shown that this organization will pay a price to get the player they want.

Falcons would have to give up lot more for tradin up to 13. I could see them trading with Seattle if Vea is available.
