His ability to shoot the 3 will open up the rest of his game. He had some nice drive and finishes to the rim as well as some nice assists from faking the 3pt shot.

He just needs consistency.

let see tonight he has been settling big time with 3's remember that slump

Not really. Prince showed some nice finishes at the rim and had a nice fade away midrange jumper. Plus he's making contested shots.

Prince's issue is that he plays out of control at times and forces the issue rather than taking what the defense is giving him. When he's under control and manages the game he gives you performances like today.

That being said, his handles need some work and his shooting needs to be more consistent (learn some post up moves and develop that fade away shot), but he's definitely rounding out into a playmaker that can get his teammates involved.

a few things come on its been a whole year, multiple players out he has the red light now its gonna look good to some

Damion Lee scores 13 points in NBA debut

By Mike Rutherford@CardChronicle Mar 13, 2018, 10:34pm EDT

Card Chronicle

Damion Lee’s road to the NBA wasn’t as smooth as most of the players he shared the court with Tuesday night.

Lee suffered a number of injuries throughout his college career, including an ACL tear that forced him to miss nearly the entirety of the 2013-14 season at Drexel. He used his final year of college eligibility to transfer to Louisville so that he could fulfill his dream of playing in the NCAA Tournament. After leading the Cardinals in scoring and positioning the team to be a top four seed in the Big Dance, he found out in early February that the school was self-imposing a postseason ban for incident he had nothing to do with. After graduating from U of L, Lee’s pro career got off to a rocky start when yet another ACL tear forced him to miss all of 2016-17.

And yet there was Lee Tuesday night. Seeing his first NBA action and looking look like he fully belongs in the league.

Less than 24 hours after inking a 10-day contract with the Atlanta Hawks, Lee scored 13 points, grabbed four rebounds and dished out a pair of assists over 17 minutes in his NBA debut.

Here are the highlights:

Couldn’t be happier for one of my favorite Louisville players in recent memory.

We are going to have trouble beating out Memphis for the worst record, and maybe even Phoenix. We have a tough schedule, but we play hard so we will win some games.

If we finish with the 2nd or 3rd worst record in the league, I'm just going to hope we get the 1st or 2nd pick.

Hawks’ Taurean Prince is Playing Like a Borderline All-Star

by Jack ODonnell2 hours ago

Soaring Down South

For the Atlanta Hawks, second-year wing Taurean Prince has picked up his play considerably after a sluggish start to the season.

With March Madness season finally upon us and by the great tradition of blind resumes, let’s take a look at an interesting NBA one for you.

Over the past 7 games, here are a peek at the two players’ respective stats:

Player A: 21.1 points per game, 44% shooting with 5.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.7 steals, 1 block

Player B: 22.2 points per game, 46% shooting with 4.7 rebounds 4.4 assists 0.8 steals, 0 blocks

Any guesses on who A and B are?

Player A is our very own Atlanta Hawk Taurean Prince, who has been on an absolute tear lately. Player B is MVP candidate DeMar DeRozan. Yes, you read that right, Taurean has been playing like one of the best players in the league (excluding a sleepy 18-minute slog against Indiana) all the while keeping Atlanta’s tanking hopes alive.

Prince has always been projected as a consistent 3-and-D wing in today’s NBA, but this recent outburst has opened up a new door for Prince that few thought he could reach. His scoring load of around 21 points per game is close to that of a No. 1 scorer on some of the better teams in the NBA.

Going with his scoring, he has shown a trash talking side that has been sorely missed in the city of Atlanta in years past.

During last year’s game 6 loss to the Wizards in the first round of the playoffs, motor-mouthed John Wall scored 42 points, but he did even more damage by firing off disrespectful barbs and mean-mugs at his point guard counterpart Dennis Schröder.

Being in the stadium, I was a little miffed that no Hawk was jawing back at him, and it seemed to show that Wall had gotten in our heads (the 42 points didn’t help).

If Prince can continue this mean streak and bring some bite to this Hawks team as well as continue his impressive scoring run, we look to be one piece less away from some pretty exciting things.

Prince starting to make a Kawhi Leonard-esque jump in his game. Shroder may be the Hawks leading scorer, but Prince right now is the Hawks best all-around scorer. He has a better jump shot, especially from 3 where I believe he's at or north of 40%, which is actually pretty good. Shroder has a pretty good midrange jumper but suffers at the 3 point line where he's around 34%.

Hawks' Schroder: Howard only cares against his former teams

yahoo.com

Dennis Schroder questioned Dwight Howard after the center led the Charlotte Hornets past the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA on Thursday.

Howard played great in Charlotte's 129-117 win with 33 points and 12 rebounds, but that did not impress former team-mate Schroder.

Howard's effort has been questioned in the past, and the issue came to a head last season when the former Hawks center was pulled over in the early morning before Atlanta took on the Washington Wizards in a game six playoff matchup, one his team ultimately lost.

His former Hawks team-mates remember that incident and Schroder refuses to forget it.

"He plays always great against his former team," Schroder told reporters after the game via Fox Sports Southeast.

"Credit to him too, but that's like four games each year, you know? Houston, LA, us. I think he's always giving his best there but the others games he [shrugs]."

Schroder was not exactly wrong as Howard told reporters after the game that the trade motivated him.

"Everything happens for a reason. It motivated me to just come back this season with a different mindset. Play with more confidence and stuff like that. So thank you, Bud," Howard said, via The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

like the trash talk but stats can be misleading especially playing without other starters on a nightly basis

With Bazemore out, Prince has a chance to show his entire offernsive repertoire.  He's effective with the ball making the right play to pass or shoot.

He's been throwning some great on-the-money passes. That one off the inbounds to a streaking Collins down the court was beautiful.

Collins had a solid night too. Future is bright for our hawks.

Collins has been putting together some good games recently as well. If these guys keep improving, then I imagine that the Hawks will be back in playoff contention (and hopefully title contention) with a couple more pieces.

I'm really interested to see what moves the Hawks' FO makes this offseason. Should the current standings remain, they'll have three picks in the first round of the draft, and the Hawks have drafted well as of late.
