I did the draft game just now, traded down a few times to gain more picks to address the Falcons needs properly, and to draft more bodies in case guys bust. What do you think of my first few picks?

  • Round 2, Pick 14 = Harrison Phillips, DT, Stanford
  • Round 2, Pick 32 = Braden Smith, OT/OG, Auburn
  • Round 3, Pick 11 = Jeff Holland, DE/OLB, Auburn
  • Round 3, Pick 13 = Anthony Averett, CB, Alabama
  • Round 3, Pick 20 = Frank Ragnow, C/OG, Arkansas
  • Round 4, Pick 5 = Mike Gesicki, TE, Penn State
  • Round 4, Pick 14 = Bradley Bozeman, C, Alabama
  • Round 4, Pick 24 = Bo Scarbrough, RB, Alabama
  • Round 4, Pick 25 = Jaylen Samuels, FB, North Carolina State

I made 4 more picks but they were probably just draft fillers. These guys here are the guys that would matter!

Yes. Of course it is. Because the Falcons are more likely to trade up and end up with just 4 players when we need about 10 players to be completely honest.

Yup. I am confident we will never trade back. Hope I'm wrong but I just don't see it happening.

Too much Auburn/Alabama in it?

They were the best players on the board IMO. At least according to the projected draft rounds listed. Didn't intend for it to end up that way, just the way it worked out.

Anthony Averett isn't good in my humble opinion.

Don't really know anything about him. That's why I was asking KOG since he's an Alabama fan and would know better than I do.

IF that could happen, it would be amazing.

Averett is about average. Good special teams and back-up. Plays multiple positions.

Not sure we do I think it's more quality over quantity.

We traded back last year in the later rounds.

In the later rounds where it's more about getting value than actual impact players. I'd like to see them trade down and pick up an extra high pick to get more than just 1 or 2 immediate impact players. I just finished trying to do a more realistic draft and I traded back from 27 to 32 and picked up an extra 2nd. I think I made out well and if the Falcons end up with a draft like this I'd be thrilled.

  • Round 1, Pick 32 = Dre'Mont Jones, DT, Ohio State
  • Round 2, Pick 27 = Frank Ragnow, C/OG, Arkansas
  • Round 2, Pick 32 = Jeff Holland, DE/OLB, Auburn
  • Round 3, Pick 27 = Hayden Hurst, TE, South Carolina
  • Round 4 Pick 27 = Adonis Alexander, CB, Virginia Tech
  • Round 6, Pick 27 = Bo Scarbrough, RB, Alabama
  • Round 7, Pick 27 = Riley Ferguson, QB, Memphis

Not bad, but I don't like Scarbrough

Trading back is overrated. You can only have 53 players on the roster. It is more important to get the guy you want... i.e Trufant, Takk, even Jones.

Trading back is not overrated. Would you rather have 2 impact players or just 1? It's not hard to understand that 2 is better than 1, especially when you need 2.

I'd take one sure one than 2 reaches.

As long as the background has been done on a guy and it's within reason to get him I take the sure thing according to the mentioned over 2 guys.
