Reports that Joe Maddon will return to Chicago. He will not get an extension. It's the final yet of his deal.

That is just dumb. Maddon was interim manager twice with the Angels, 1996 (8-14) and 1999 (19-10) prior to getting the Rays job in 2006. In total, Maddon has complied a record of 1168-990 (.541). That includes his first two years with the Rays when they went 61-101 and 66-96. Since 2008 when the Rays made the World Series, Maddon has posted only 1 losing season, a record of 77-85 in his last year with the Rays in 2014. In the 11 years starting with 2008, Maddon's teams have won at least 90 games 9 times. 9 out of 11 with 2 different teams, one of which routinely had one of the top 5 lowest payrolls in all of baseball. The man is a **** good manager and the talk of firing him or not extending him is stupid.

A lot of people were wondering if the Angels would jump in and offer him a way out. They seem set on Eric Chavez though.

So what are the chances of him being the Braves skipper in the near future.  :ninja:

None. Although if it did happen I know at least one Braves fan that would be extremely pissed. This person thinks Maddon is a total clown and crook.

Poor Billy Beane. He's done more with less than any personnel manager in any sport I've ever seen, yet October is always a horror show for him.

Michael Young is the next manager in Texas if he wants it. He reportedly does not. DeRosa and Phil Nevin are the next up.

I think DeRo would do it in a heartbeat. He talks like a guy that's itching to get into coaching.

Maybe he should go coach somewhere rather than hang out in a TV studio and talk then?
