He can throw it to either side of the plate, up or down, and usually knows where it's going. His FB/Slider combo is crazy good. So do you think he can be as good as CC? Sabathia generally has had more control than Gohara has now, Gohara has more sustained velocity and a tighter break on his slider. Sabathia also had a great change-up when he came up and it was a great weapon until Sabathia started losing velocity. Gohara could develop that, but it's not anywhere near the level that Sabathia's was. youngbloodz likes this

So Fried went from possible making the big league squad to dropping to AA. Surely he pitched better than Blair? Wisler? didn't he?? Does anyone have any thoughts? Is he learning a new role, maybe long relief out of bullpen?
Posted April 5, 2018 Mississippi rotation is Wright, Fried, Touki, Sanchez and Pike. Florida rotation is Anderson, Wentz, Wilson, Davidson and Walker

He said he will not be as aggressive as Coppy and his FO was with player progression. Anthopoulos plans to take a more patient and cautious approach. Could be why Fried was put back in Mississippi. Posted April 6, 2018 (edited) Rome Braves won their game 5-2! Looks like Izzy Wilson and Drew Waters had triples. Muller started the game giving up 2 runs in 3.1 innings but struck-out 5. Didn't factor in the outcome. Allison got the win and Burrows got the save. Edited April 6, 2018 by AEFalcon

Saw most of this line-up when they were in Danville last year, so was very impressed with the progress I saw at the plate. Waters has really cut down the loopiness of his LH swing, much quicker to the ball. Biggest improvement I saw was from Derian Cruz, who looked absolutely lost most of the times I saw him last year. He's putting more a sting into the ball; last year he looked like he was chopping wood at the plate, now he starts lower and more relaxed. Muller was pretty wild in the first, and put a 95mph fastball right down the middle of the plate against the Nats' #2 prospect, Juan Soto. It got crushed. He settled down in the other innings, and started really mixing in his change-up well, which was much better than advertised. He was lifted at exactly 65 pitches (as was Kyle Wright in Mississippi). Thomas Burrows was absolutely filthy and I have no idea why he's still in Rome. AEFalcon and youngbloodz like this

Posted April 6, 2018 Here's the rotations in their current order. ROME: Kyle Muller, Jaseel De La Cruz, Bruce Zimmermann, Huascar Ynoa, Alan Rangel FLORIDA: Jeremy Walker, Tucker Davidson, Bryse Wilson, Joey Wentz, Ian Anderson MISSISSIPPI: Kyle Wright, Touki Toussaint, Tyler Pike, Max Fried, Ricardo Sanchez GWINNETT: Mike Soroka, Matt Wisler, Lucas Sims, Kolby Allard, Aaron Blair Freddy Tarnok made the Rome roster, and at some point he should take a rotation spot. Florida's rotation is pretty much reverse order of prospect status, likely to help limit total innings from the higher-ceiling/younger pitchers. Matt Withrow is another starting candidate for Mississippi, but he started on the DL.
Posted April 7, 2018 Mike Soroka first start at AAA went 5 innings, 3 hits, 0 runs, 1BB & 5 SO. Threw 60 pitches, 42 were strikes. Looking forward to watching him all season! ATL Fan in the DMV and Drew4719 like this

Posted April 7, 2018 That's the first day he's eligible. The debate was will he join the team in Chicago or will they wait till next Monday when they're back in Atlanta. I have a feeling they'll let him make his debut at SunTrust.
