Who? Why not Akeel Morris? Are the Braves ever going to give him a chance?

Bowman implies that Socolovich was selected because he was expendable. He'll likely be DFA'd when Sanchez comes up.

Makes sense. Smart move.

Braves have acquired C Carlos Perez from the Angels for Ryan Schimpf. Perez is another light hitting backup. He has an impressive ability to throw out runners though. He's also rated as a poor pitch framer. This move is simply to give Suzuki extra time if he needs it. Perez is out of minor league options.

The Braves today selected the contract of RHP Aníbal Sánchez from Triple-A Gwinnett, while newly acquired C Carlos Pérez has reported and been added to the 25-man roster. Sánchez will wear No. 19 and Pérez will be No. 61.

To make room on the active roster, the club designated RHP Miguel Socolovich for assignment and placed RHP Josh Ravin on 10-day disabled list with a viral infection.

Steve Phillips claims the Braves are going to try to sign Harper. He said it on his radio show this morning. I wouldnt put too much stock into it since literally nobody else has heard that. You can dream though, an OF of Acuna, Ender and Harper. Sweet Jesus.

I don't see it either but this is a different regime and one that has made splash moves in the past.

I think it's very unlikely. The economics of the team are such that sinking $400M into one player doesn't make a lot of sense.

Braves traded Akeel Morris to the Angels for a player to be named or cash.

Someone is going to have to explain to me why the Braves didn't like Akeel Morris enough to give him a shot at the bullpen the last two years even though the Braves bullpen has been straight garbage.

Anthopoulos clearly wasn't too high on Morris for whatever reason. Stuck with Brothers over him.

This started before AA got here. Braves got Morris from the Mets in 2016 and he was only allowed to pitch in 8 big league games with the Braves and he looked great in those innings.

Sanchez will join the rotation and start on Saturday in Denver. Camargo will play a rehab game Thursday and if all goes well he'll fly to Denver.

Thank gawd -- hadn't been that upset with a Braves catcher since AJ Pierzynski.

Well that escalated quickly. BTW, has any team ever had 4 different starting catchers in the first 6 games of the season? Gotta venture a guess that's never happened before.

So is Preston Tucker going to turn into the new El Oso Blanco?

No. Tucker can play a position.

Houston is the same team that DFA'd JD Martinez. Shows the embarrassment of riches that franchise has collected over the years.

But to be fair to them about the Martinez situation, Martinez was given ample opportunity to take a job in Houston and run with it. He was given over 200 PA in 2011, 400 in 2012 and 300 in 2013 and hit a combined .251/.300/.387 (.687). That's the reason Houston cut him loose. The Tigers deserve the credit for getting the most out of Martinez.

Tucker on the other hand was never really given much opportunity in Houston.

How has jackson progressed? Last I heard he fixed his swing and was doing alright. Didn't think he was ready yet but will be interesting to see how he goes
