JG2008
Horrible call on fourth down at the end of the game. Ridiculous call by Coach Quinn in that situation anyone could clearly see that we would have probably a hard time getting the ball back and that we needed to go for it as that would probably be our only chance to actually win the game. Domed Outter
I suppose it's the inconsistencies. Go for it on 4th and short first half, then when realistically we are requiring a TD, it's a field goal attempt. A bit of a headscratcher, much like this season has been. Emmitt
I thought we should have gone for it too. It was obvious that they could ram it down our throats when they wanted too. I thought the D was gassed by that point in the trying to keep us in it. if I could see it why couldn’t they?

Them not having penalties called all games is the reason they moved the ball If the refs called even a fraction of the obvious calls they missed....the vikes would not have had any offense at all. lostnmexico
Just like he put too much faith in CJ Goodwin, Quinn put too much faith in his defense! If his attention to coaching falls into the same category, then its easy to see why the offense sometimes struggles. Especially when the coach shows a lack of faith in their ability to get it done, even though they converted earlier. Clark Kent™
I get on Quinns case all the time for some of his calls, but i don't have a big problem with kicking the fg on that one. Its not like their offense had been putting up massive points on us all game. Not Quinns fault that Goodwin got absolutely abused on a simple slant route the following drive. Embarrassing af. And pathetic af as well.

He has more than proven he is a better CB than he was a WR. He simply just got rekt on that play. Quinn can't help that. Its a freaking slant route man. No way should you get torched that badly. ESPECIALLY on a 3rd down at the end of the game. Just pathetic.
Club212
Quinn needs a quality ASSISTANT or ADVISOR! The young LB Corps needs VETERAN LEADERSHIP ( how many tackles did they total today? )...Special Teams, is an accident waiting to happen, week in week out announcers laugh at it & we keep on going, if not for the penalty, a block? 1-Armstrong must go now, 2-Sark, if the "O" keeps this pace, he must go...Julio, where was he the 2nd half....3- As for the 2nd half or ALL 2ND HALFS going back to last season...Just WHAT ADJUSTMENTS does this team make at Halftimes? ie. Quinn needs HELP!
JG2008
The point is we still would have had to get the ball back either way to win the game If we don’t make it on 4th down or Even if we made the FG the Vikings were moving it most of the day including a 90 yard drive in the 2nd half and our D was obviously gassed so with only what just under 5 minutes left in the game how can you rationalize that we needed to kick a FG Edited December 3, 2017 by JG2008

No we didn't, it was a chop block call that backed them up deep in their own territory and the Vikes went safe with play calls because they were clearly trying not to turn it over. Not the same thing as a "regular" defensive stop, unless your defensive strategy is to always assume their will be an offensive penalty. I get his relationship with MM but Richard Smith was a coaching veteran. So was Bobby Taylor for the offense.

Just one touchdown might've unchained them, got them overthinking and our defence could've capitalised. They haven't really been behind recently to test that out. FalconMama
What suggests we would’ve converted. They dominated us on 3rd down today.

This. The defense obviously got the stop with the help of a penalty but that was the one stop we made that we needed to make. We had Wreh-Wilson and goodwin out there. The smart move by the coach would've been to ask the offense (pretty much at full health compared to our defense) to make up for the terrible play all game by coming through there. A field goal really doesn't do much for us there with so little time left. This was a terrible coaching decision and I hope Quinn learns from this. Going for it, gives you two shots at winning, and kicking gives one. Get the 1st and may score the winning TD, Don't get it, you still have the same chance to get the stop. 32wood84white
Don’t hate the call. Kick the field goal and pin them deep in their territory on the kickoff. If you get the 3 and out you get the ball back with two plus minutes and only need a field goal to win it. my biggest complaint coaching wise was three timeouts before the half and they are inside their 10. Good stop on first down. Call the time out and attack them. If they don’t pick up the first on second down then most likely they would have ran the ball to force us to use our final timeout and punt it with around a minute left. The Vikes were facing 1st and 25 on that drive the other poster was referencing. Most teams, that are ahead, late in a game, will play it very safe in that situation. Yes technically we stopped them, but the Vikes were not really trying to get a first down, as much as they were trying to avoid a turnover or make a stupid mistake that would have given the Falcons the ball back with excellent field position. They punted and pinned us deep. We then were able to drive inside the Vikes 35 yard line and instead of going for it on 3rd and three, with basically the game on the line, we went for a FG. And the Vikes did stop us, we were 1 for 10 on third downs in the game, and most of those were not penalty related. So I really don't know what you are saying.
