2018 NFL Draft Prospects the Atlanta Falcons have shown interest in

Austin Corbett is an under-the-radar name in the 2018 NFL draft

Corbett is hardly unknown to NFL teams, though. A small-town kid with big-time dreams and goals, he has had workouts or visits with 15 teams in the lead-up to the draft. Among those teams were the New York Giants, Carolina Panthers, Minnesota Vikings, Atlanta Falcons and Dallas Cowboys.

Not sure that counts as interest. I think that's an agent trying to drum up some interest for his client. 40 time seems exaggerated as well as NFL draft scout lists is as 4.78. Typical draft propaganda that goes around this time of year.

I like both the temple guys on day 3. Allegedly we're looking to add a safety, DE/DT and FB.

If we came away with 4 of the following I'd be thrilled:

Siral Neal

Jacob Martin

Jullian Taylor

Ian Thomas

Ryan Nall

Nick Bawden

Quite a few guys that we selected, that we hadn't worked out previously: Ridley, Smith and Gage.

That seems like a change from previous drafts.

No

I can assure you we met with and worked these guys out; there just wasn't a report on it

A few of us had been vocal about how there seems to be far fewer reports on what the Falcons had done, and who they had met with/were meeting with than in years past

It's why none of the talking heads had a clue which direction we were going in each round, and when they attempted a guess, or had "inside info" they were always dead wrong. I found it quite entertaining myself.

Even if we did and they were unreported, still seems like a change from previous years.

A lot harder to gauge where we were going, which can only be a good thing.

Just to get it in the record that the Falcons did have an official visit with Deadrin Senat that went unreported before the draft. From his blog:

"On Day 2 of the draft, I got a phone call from the Dallas Cowboys around 2:00 p.m. telling me they really liked me and were interested in drafting me, and was I ready to get that phone call from them later on. And then they had a pick at No. 50, but they didn’t choose me there. So after that, I really didn’t know what to expect.

I left the house a couple times as the day went on, but I came back near the end of the third round. I didn’t think I was going to be getting a call from the Falcons. I had just gone on a visit there on April 18, which went really well. I was the only one there and I really got to spend quality time with everyone.

It was kind of crazy, because the day before the workout my agent called and said I was flying out the next day. They booked me a flight, and then I was on the plane going to Georgia. It was a really good visit. I met everybody, I met the whole defensive coaching staff. I felt like I was at home because they knew my head coach, Coach [Charlie] Strong, and they knew my defensive coordinator. And they were telling me they really liked me. I sat down with [Falcons head coach] Dan Quinn and [general manager] Thomas Dimitroff, and they seemed really excited to speak to me.

The Falcons were also one of the teams that I met with one-on-one at the Combine, which I can tell you now."

Calvin Ridley did work-out for Falcons scouts prior to the draft.  It is unclear whether this workout was in conjunction with his pro-day or a private workout at a later date. From the TD/Quinn transcript on draft day:

"TD: “He’s an extremely passionate football player. Of course, he fits into Coach Quinn’s setting here, very well. He’s upbeat, firing, and he’s ready to compete at all levels. You should have heard him on the phone. We won’t get into that, but we had a really good interaction with him. The idea of how he handled himself in his individual pro day was great. By way of our scouts, everyone was really detailed, and again, very encouraged by where his focus was. He was probably one of the more focused guys that we’ve had working out for our people in a while.”
