Tribal Chief
I’m honestly starting to think it’s coaching over the player on returns. The player has to follow instructions and we learned that with Douglas when he “broke a rule” or whatever they called it

It has become way too common with all of the returners the Falcons have had over the past decade just about under Keith Armstrong's tenure as ST coach. k-train
Don't get me wrong, the D is playing pretty darned well right now, but... If they don't let teams cross the 50, those teams aren't in a position to pin us inside the 10. It's not ALL on the returner or ST coach (although they aren't necessarily helping matters)

It's not ALL on the returner or ST coach (although they aren't necessarily helping matters) Bosher can also be the blame for not punting as well as he has known to over most of his career. Opposing teams have had decent field position to start off with on many drives. The Falcons defense is 7th overall in least total yards given up. Peyton
The Falcons even got luck on one punt where he let it hit and the Cowboys could have easily penned Atlanta on the 1 but the Cowboys guy didn't appear to have the awareness of where he was on the field and he let it get into the end zone. dmo_dlo
Before yesterday Falcons were second in the league with most drives starting inside 5. I think after yesterday's game they are tied for first with steelers.

It’s not Armstrong. It’s where the defense is making the stops. If they let a team get across the 50 and we stop them just out of FG range them it’s gonna be a pin punt to the corner of the end zone guaranteed. So first and foremost the defense has to try and keep Seattle on THEIR side of the 50. We started in bad field position a lot last year as well BUT the offense turned those into long sustained scoring drives a lot of times. This is nothing new. Y’all hated weems when he got pinned. Hester was done when they pinned him. There’s punters that can put spin on a punt like a pool shark on a cue ball. The one time the defense made a stop before the 50 he returned the punt for a TD but it got called back for a block in the back. ALL his good returns have been called back because of a penalty so i mean what can we do? A punt team is gonna do 1 of two things. Cover or block and if they’re in cover they’re gonna get downfield while the punter punts a very high kick. So at the end of the day call the defense out. Stop Seattle on THEIR side of the 50. Cause as deadly as our offense is EVERYBODY wants us coming off the 1 yard line.

Off topic question. Does Russell worry you ??

atljbo
Its about field position .. If we stop them around the 50... We will have bad field position If our team gets a early 3 and out ... We giving them great field position

Our defense is much improved even since the last time we last played them. It’ll still be tough but i think we take them. Especially if we’re efficient and don’t turn the ball over. I think I heard somewhere Brown might be out. If so hopefully Clay can take advantage of another backup.
