How good are the Seahawks? and how well do we match up with them?

Recommended Posts

Seattle has no run game outside of Wilson. Stop the run, and force Wilson to beat us with his arm rather than legs. Debo or Beasley, whoever does spy, is gonna need to contain him. Offensively, we have to set up the run somehow. Sherman may be out, but Thomas will be back. If we can get a run game going, that goes a long way to helping out the passing attack, especially in Seattle. The biggest battle will probably be in the trenches though, where both offensive lines are suspect, but Seattle being worse. Our o-line has to be better, getting a push on run plays and giving Matt enough time. Seattle's o-line is still one of the worst even after trading for Duane Brown, finding some of the magic from the Dallas game would be amazing. I'd expect this to go down to the wire like our previous game in Seattle, hopefully it doesn't go down with an uncalled DPI this time around.

They have no run game and I think one of their o linemen are injured also. We make them one dimensional and I like our d line against their o line and Campbell covering  Graham. On the other side of the ball, Sherman is out for the year and if we can execute I think we’ll be able to move the ball like we did this week. We match up well, just a matter of the good Falcons showing up and not the Cleveland version.

Falcons need to get that run game going early, then kill them with some play-action. Defense just needs to contain Wilson and don't allow him to extend plays and continue to make the Seahawks run-game a non-factor.

With Sherman out, expect for Earl Thomas to be busy helping out with whatever poor soul that has to guard Julio.

Does Russell Wilson have a concussion or not? That still has me scratching my head

Wilson says he just had an issue w/ his jaw (got locked or something) after the hit, so he couldn't really communicate. Claims the ref sent him to the tent to be safe, and he then told the ref he was totally fine & came back in the game after one play. NFL is investigating.

D Campbell would be a good spy

I think the Falcons are going to use Beasley, on Wilson, Campbell on Graham, and slide coverage toward Baldwin.  Seattle is very beatable even at home.

If Sark can keep the O going, we should win, and in IMHO, this is a signature game for the Falcons.  A must win, to keep the momentum rolling.

Losing Free hurts, I think we are going to see Gabriel more involved in the OF game plan as they have to shadow or double Julio with out Sherman.

Any thoughts?

It sounds like ET will be back but there's a decent chance that Kam will sit this week due to a stinger in the last game. If Kam sits along with Sherm being done for year, we need to capitalize on their injuries the same way we took advantage of the Cowboys' missing players.

Great opportunity for our offense to gain some more confidence under Sark's play calling.

Our DL is better on the edges than last year/front 7 including the LBs and since we got Rubin to help with the losses at DT in Crawford/Hageman we've also seen Poe/Jarrett holding it down inside. We got gashed a couple times vs a stout ride side of the Cowboys; despite their LT being out, and so it's more of a contain and spy RW while limiting any of their ground efforts. Wilson may scramble a couple times but it better be off of a good read by them or tempo and not a simple case of failing to set the edge.

The key to us beating these more mobile/dual threat QBs has been our formula last year: Get up big and make them throw. We started slow vs CAR and got into their gameplan of the read-option with Cam. Give me a first half with 20 points and we win vs those types of teams every time. Only guys like Brees or Brady can beat us in those situations. We already have Rodgers number and Wilson has been marginal our last couple matchups.

The Falcons have got this one ironically because Freeman is out. As much as I love Devonta Freeman, him being out has forced Sark to start being creative on all four downs instead of typically running Free up the middle on first down for little gain and putting us in a hole. This happened in all of our losses. Sark's insistence on establishing the run first has hurt our offense and has been the biggest difference from last year. With all of our weapons, we should establish the pass first to set up the Free and Coleman runs. Our offense will torch Seattle Monday night. I just hope Sark doesn't return to running up the middle on first down when Free does return. If so, our losses will return as well.

Matt Ryan has a saying in the game plan. He has already played Seattle twice last year, and he will offer some feedback to Sark.

Actually, Seattle has a major problem defending the Falcons offensive weapons with major injuries to their defense.

They have to bring a CB and a LB or a safety to account for Julio. This should open the middle lanes or good for play action.

28-10 Falcons...

Just let Wilson "Take Over" lol.  :D.  Quinn knows this team well.  They will come with a solid game plan.  We'll see if they pull out all those stunts again.

Whenever I need a smile, I turn on the defensive highlights from the 2016 playoff game.  Then I watch the offensive highlights from the NFCCG.
