How the Falcons can win This Weekend

Interesting!

So do we think Julio is injured, age/wear and tear catching up to him or Sark using him more as a decoy?

Over the last two weeks, he's clearly been the go to target in the red zone. I'm sure he has pain, but that will be the case until the day he hangs them up.

I think Sark was just trying to be cute early. "How many plays can I design for Gabe in the RZ." To me this is just college mentality leaking out. Get the ball to fast shifty athletes in space. The problem with that approach in the NFL is that everyone on the field can run. Most college teams have a handful of guys taking snaps who just don't have the physical tools to make it at the next level. These guys are taken out of the equation when you coach at that next level.

Quinn announced they were going to involve Julio more heading into week 7 and they have been true to that. He has dominated red zone targets ever since.

One of the things I like about Quinn is his willingness to put his hands on things when they are not working. While he certainly delegates, he seems to truly understand that in the critical moments, the buck stops with him. I think he showed that taking over the defense last year and putting dictating that Julio was going to be more involved this year.

I listened to and there were a lot of good facts. But when they started speculating about Julio's health or age, I rolled my eyes.  I agree with @falcndave There was too much trying to outthink the defense and be too cute. Maybe the rain made us be simple and do things the Falcons are really good doing.

In my opinion the growing pains are over. I think Julio and Matt are about to get on the same wavelength again and this offense is going to be pretty dang good again

A lot of it had to do with Julio and Matt not practicing enough in the preseason. I would also wager they didn't do enough practicing during the first few weeks. Lots of we got this mentality.

Not sure if it's age but wear and tear, maybe Then suddenly he pulls of a catch where carries three guys with him.

Sark just isn't giving Julio the opportunities to make plays. Get him open over the middle run those quick slants. The big TD against GB in the NFCCG where he beat the interference, caught the ball and crushed everyone to the end zone was epic. I would love to see him pull off the big plays like that again.

These stats were based on the season I believ.  Missing a game  playing injured the next and playing in a monsoon might account for most on the discrepancies.  People playing him closer is a gamble defenses are taking based on something they'v seen in our playcalling or from a team that had success against him. 1 thing is for sure, he won' be containe for long.

Age thing shouldn’t be an issue. Antonio Brown is one year older and is still tearing it up. Julio has been injured a lot but that hasn’t been a problem with putting up numbers in the past. This year, he leads the team in receptions and yards. Maybe a decoy but I believe Matt has no choice but to target others in the red zone with all the double teams Julio is attracting.
