I was wondering if Ford was one of those kids that falls in love with each team after every visit?  The Georgia love just seems so sudden from what (admittedly little) I have seen regarding his recruitment.  I had the impression he was a Bama lean.

Most believe that Bama is prioritizing the Juco tight end now (DWA initials maybe? On phone at conference... Don't feel like looking him up). Ford is most likely to end up in Athens either way though.

He said he wants to be with Fields

Was never an Alabama lean. He was just high on them.

Sentell's been pumping the Ford to UGA train since long before Fields committed.

It's been long believed that the kid was headed to the SEC, but while Alabama was an established product, UGA had a lot to prove. That and the Fields commitment, who he's been very vocal as to wanting to play with, just put us over the top.

I'm sure the Alabama mods will be saying that Alabama is prioritizing the JUCO product, but there's also a strong argument to make that the reason they are, is because they saw Ford leaning our way, especially after Fields committed. That just sealed the deal. All that really remained was for him to visit.

Cory Fravel flipped his CB for Hill to UGA. The significance here is that he was the lone remaining CB to FSU.

The only other non-UGA CB is Niebuhr's Foggy.

I'd say it's pretty clear that UGA has no intention of sacrificing Hill to take Mays. Salyer, Mays, and Hill are all takes.

good gawd!  if we get Salyer, Hill and Mays and add that to Isaiah Wilson, Andrew Thomas, Solomon Kindley and Netori Johnson - that is some serious Pancakes to go with the UGA syrup!!!

I would welcome all three, but I’m really not wrapping my head around the numbers with the hard cap on 25 now. We have 7 spots left and if we are presumably going with Salyer, Mays, Hill, Tindall, Reese as in... that leaves 2 spots for Ford, Barmore (or Cooper), Campbell (or Joseph/Frierson), Jamarr Chase/Alontae Taylor.

3 star LB/DE Caleb Johnson is also apparently a priority and we would take him if he commits.

I just don’t see these numbers working out unless the staff knows a couple currently committed guys won’t be signing with UGA.

I expect some "attrition" from the current roster. There's a lot of dead weight literally just taking up space.

LG on 247 has already said that the word is we're gunning really hard for that #1 spot, and you'll see at least a few decommits in the coming months.

This is a much clearer and wordier way of getting across what I was trying to say. Cheers!

Busy work conference but gotta get in my crootin' discussion.

We are going to be under 85 anyway. My point is about the 25 in this class. You can’t sign more than 25 anymore, it’s a hard cap. We have about 10 players that most are considering Dawgs and only 7 spots left.

No back counting anymore on early enrollees?

Bama mods love to pump sunshine to that fanbase. You gotta be careful with listening to what they say.

Hank South started the Ford to Alabama CB parade back in June. He's now one of the few remaining holdouts to CB him to UGA.

It's a similar situation to Fravel and Newberg. He won't pull that CB till the last minute, no matter how many others change. Gotta get those clicks.

Nope, there is a hard cap of 25 signees for a recruiting year now. It went into effect in August. No more back counting... not for early enrollees, not even if a school doesn’t sign a full class of 25 the year before. Texas (18) and Clemson (14) both undersigned big time for the 2017 class and they will not be able to sign more than 25.

I think the new approach to getting around this will be the preferred walk-on route. But that is obviously something many kids won’t go for when they have a full ride scholarship on the table elsewhere.

Can you link to this Carter? I've seen it references but no official update eliminating it and reports referencing back counting for the upcoming class still.
