What about Oklahoma State? They gave up a 62 burger today.

If I was a defensive recruit I dont think i would want to go to the Big 12. Seems like every school in that conference  has a high powered offense but a horrible defense. I dont think Okie State has ever attempted to play defense under Gundy

How much of a shot, if any, do we have at Mays?  That would be quite the coup.

As good a chance as anyone. From what I understand he is no longer interested in UT and the person they hire to replace Butch would have to be a special fit for UT akin to Kirby at UGA. There are a lot of unhappy former players and boosters with hard feelings toward the athletic department.

The issue for UGA really is numbers. If we get a commitment from Mays we would probably cool all the way down on any other uncommitted OL besides Salyer. We wouldn’t be going after Mays the way we are now if we didn’t have a real shot or room though.

What is Salyer waiting on?  If he knows that UGA is the place, just commit already!

Maybe a point of pride, but waiting on the commitment often helps secure a higher recruiting rank. Doesn't mean a lot necessarily but there's no real harm done by waiting either. Think back to last year's class around the January time frame when nearly our entire class was wrapped up... Not here so much but many places filled with UGA fans griping that we weren't "closing strong". I trust this staff at this point.

As to Mays... Our airplane made a scheduled stop in Tennessee today... Cannot confirm that it was for him but would not be surprising to follow up the unofficial with a trip to see his parents as a follow up.

Mays is the kind of kid you make room for both form a player perspective and a message perspective. Numbers be ****ed.

There are at least 5 OL currently on this roster (besides those who are upperclassmen and thus gone after this season anyway) who are more or less just spot fillers who stand less than a chance in **** of ever seeing the field, and after the 2017 OL class gets a year behind them, and we add the 2018 OL class, that number will only go up. It will be interesting to see who of these kids stick around to ride the pine next year, since I'm sure the Coaches will be very clear of their dismal chances of playing time.

All that to say...room can always be made.

Space in this class is more scarce than space under 85 for 2018. We should have little to no problems getting to 85 between graduation and a couple of early draft departures... Maybe a couple are asked to look elsewhere.
