Help this recruiting novice understand what you are implying here.

The implication is that a commitment is imminent but the information getting out early on 247 would damage their reputation and relationships with their contacts. So they delete threads and play damage control.

Random message board people don’t face the same consequences that reporters do.

So you believe the Tindall kid is gonna be a UGA commit or secretly already is?

Made this post on another board, figured I'd get some input from the crew here... nothing set in stone/solidified... several "OR" spots, but here is how I see the current class projected out:

Quote

Not going to play the attrition game, but if I take our current commit list:

Justin Fields
Zamir White
James Cook
Adam Anderson
Azeez Ojulari
Kearis Jackson
Elijah Moore
Devonte Wyatt
Caleb Tannor
Warren Ericson
Chris Smith
Aaron Brule
John Fitzpatrick
Owen Condon
Tramel Walthour
Rachad Wildgoose
Jaevon Becton
Jake Camarda

If we're being a little less Disney, I could easily see us adding to the class something that looks like this (in cases of OR, best guess listed first):

Jamaree Salyer
Trey Hill OR Cade Mays OR Daniel Faalele
Tyson Campbell OR Gilbert Frierson
Otis Reese
Channing Tindall
Christian Barmore OR Robert Cooper OR Trevor Trout (edit per AD comments)
Luke Ford
Alontae Taylor OR JaMarr Chase OR Josh Vann

Adding some combination of those 8 spots would put us at 26, so 2 over what I believe will be our max for this class...

Assuming some way to make the numbers work (grey shirt/back counting magic/etc), that would give us:
QB - 1 (#1 overall)
RB - 2 (#1 and #3)
WR - 3
TE - 2
OL - 4
DT - 3
DE - 1
OLB - 3
ILB - 2
CB - 2
S - 2
K - 1

If I take my best guess (first name listed) for each of those spots, it gives a total score of 306.34, and average recruit rating of 92.2 (92.7 if you exclude Camarda, since kickers get jobbed on ratings).

Still plenty of room for shake ups and surprises, but that's a pretty reasonable projection IMO. Actually comes in a little higher than last year's class on what many would have guessed to be a down year for us.

This would be adding +19 Blue Chippers to the roster.

Graduation attrition (did quick scan, could be off... let me know and can update) - ** denotes blue chip:
Brice Ramsey**
Nick Chubb**
Sony Michel**
Christian Payne
Jeb Blazevich**
Isaiah Wynn**
Dyshon Sims**
John Atkins** (was 3* after going to Hargrave, but originally low 4*)
Davin Bellamy**
Lorenzo Carter**
Reggie Carter**
Malcolm Parrish**
Dominic Sanders**
Aaron Davis
Cam Nizialek
David Marvin

-12 Blue Chips... net +7 blue chips in total.

95dawg i saw some stuff on this board and a few rumors, but nothing from anyone who i would consider legitimate in their information has said that (doesn't mean that isn't the case, but I would wait for someone who is trustworthy).. the only thing i have heard is we have sold him on playing on the inside.  he is a good enough player to get a scholarship and i highly doubt even with the knee injury would he accept a greyshirt.  there are going to be some tough decisions and if we could get a guy as talented as condon to greyshirt and allow us to take another olineman for instance that would be amazing, but color me skeptical that would happen.

Yeah thanks.  Would be shocked if the grey shirt happened.   Just rumors

19 OLB Kevin Harris getting CBs in for Clemson

This is the kid who was supposedly going to commit in the summer, but we told him to hold off b/c we wanted to see his Junior tape.

Seems like with his teammate leaning so heavily toward us (nother CB today flipping to UGA), and playing the same position, we may have moved on to bigger and better things.

Well that sucks. He wanted to be a good guy.

Not sure if it was mentioned already but Trout has dropped UGA from consideration.

A poster on the vault claiming Trout is a friend of a friend said he exchanged some messages with Trout. Said he asked Trout why he dropped UGA and his response was that UGA is all filled up. Bulldog Bob co-signed it.

With like 20 known prime targets for the 7 remaining spots, it’s gonna be wild to see guys we figure are favoring the Dawgs end up going elsewhere.

Yeah, watching his recruitment, it was pretty obvious not too long ago that he was favoring UCLA anyway, and the UCLA lovefest started right about when Robert Cooper's recruitment really started to take off.

If you want #1 rated classes, this is what's going to happen. Better brace yourself b/c there'll be more like this on the way.

There's just no room. You already have Bertrand, you're taking Pappoe, Trezman Marshall, who Saban has called the next Reuben Foster, is supposedly a UGA lock, and you're still recruiting guys like Mwikuta.

He just got overshadowed by better talent.

I am a "Juinor Dawg" - when it comes to recruiting as I am not dialed into booster or pay recruiting websites like many of you - Carter, Varsity FO and Sac are next level - so I will always defer to you.

Question:   It seems to me the Dawgs are a little light on DTs and 3-4 DE's right now - is that the case or just my imagination?

We've got 2 DTs committed in Wyatt and Walthour... the thought has been that we'd take at least one more between Trout/Barmore/Cooper. Sounds like we're out of it for Trout and Cooper maybe a bit of a weight problem for consistent DT play for us. I think if we can land Barmore, he's our ideal target. He's only played one year of football, but great frame and great film this year... with our DL depth presently, would be good timing for him to come in and either redshirt or rotate in sparingly if he earns it.

Wolk has CB'd Jordan Davis to us as well, but don't know enough about him to know whether he is a take for us without some of the above guys falling through.

As to DE, I dunno what's up there. Becton would seem to be a project from the film I've watched but the coaches seem to like him. Will depend on if we actually have a shot at a guy like KJ Henry or similar, but I would say DE seems light thus far and I'm not sure that any of the committed DE/OLB guys have true DE projections. We do have Robert Beal though who has been relegated to scout team work this year due to the late qualification. Malik Herring has gotten in sparingly I believe. Not too concerned on that front right now.

It’s hard to keep up with everything even with a nasty addiction to recruiting info lol... I’m mid level at best though haha...

I think the Dawgs are pretty good on depth on the DL actually. We have missed on some 5 star studs in recent years but we are still rotation 8 or 9 pure DL guys regularly. We are adding Walthour and Wyatt with this class and probably one more, possibly two but I’m expecting just one more. Cooper and Barmore look like the two names we can expect there.

Trout is probably UCLA unless Mora gets fired

I will say this: Miami offered 4 star DE Andrew Chatfield yesterday. He is teammates with current Miami committ Nesta Silvera and Tyson Campbell. We expect Chatfield to committ. Word I'm hearing is him,Nesta,Tyson will put the full court press on their teammate Patrick Surtain Jr. If that happens and Surtain committ I can see Gilbert Frierson decommitting from Miami and going to UGA

I'd take that.
