The fact that Collins is still on the team tells me the Falcons still have faith in him

I agree.  Faith and support is one thing.  Trading a top-20 corner, giving his spot to Collins and crossing your fingers in the hope that Collins doesn’t fail a 3rd time is another thing all together.  Does not seem prudent.  I do like Collins though...

Well, I was strictly talking about the idea of trading Alford for Vontae Davis. I wouldn't just trade Alford to get rid of him. It would need to be worth it.

Grass is always greener...

1) We just paid Alford and Tru.  We're not making a move for Davis.  That's not even factoring in what to do with Jalen Collins and Brian Poole.

2) Tru has struggled at times this season but overall I think Alford has looked pretty good.  We're Falcons fans so we're hyper critical and get up in arms whenever they give up a reception that goes for a 1st down or more than 10 yards.  Reality is every corner does this.  Talib and the "No Fly Zone" boys in Denver, Sherman, Peterson, Norman, and yes...even Davis.

Silly suggestion IMHO.

It's true that both Alford and Trufant got beaten by Anderson yesterday, but look at the two plays.  Alford had perfect coverage and the Anderson just made an unbelievable diving catch.  Where the ball was thrown the play was pretty much impossible to defend.

Against Trufant, Anderson beat him so bad that I thought maybe he was calling for a fair catch on that TD.  The announcers even described Trufant as having his feet in cement or something like that.

I think the Falcons were over-playing run in the conditions yesterday. Trufant got caught with his eyes in the backfield...that will create the cement shoes effect.

I think the Falcons were playing with a new team rule that required everyone to make one bad play before they were allowed to make contributions. Ryan, Hooper, Sanu, Jones, Alford, and Trufant all followed whiffs of one sort or another with solid contributions.

At the very least, Trufant is going through a crisis of confidence.  You can see it not only in his play but on his face.  The other alternative is that he already cashed in so he just doesn't give a f*** anymore.  I sincerely hope that is not the case.

I agree he hasn’t been his shut-down self, but Tru hasn’t played near as bad as this board claims. Alf has played worse.

and nobody is saying it much, but Rico has been struggling more than anybody in our secondary.

wait... what?

you means the game against the Jets yesterday right? Watch the game again.....

Might wanna read my post..I said seriously just a question..then my next post was that I will watch again today..but seriously 3 sacks doesn’t add up to a lot of pressure..constant pressure is what I will look for today when I watch today but 3 sacks can be misleading if that’s the only pressure we got..I seriously don’t know what the answer is so that’s why I’m rewatching in a little bit today

I think Alford has been playing great, we must be watching different teams.  He gave up a big play to Anderson on a perfect throw and catch but I'd have a hard time remembering other big plays he gave up this year.

my mistake. i thought you were making one of those "our team is trash" comments that people make on here, then pretend reality never happened.

If you believe Alf has been playing “great” we definetely have been watching different teams. And I’m a huge Alford fan.

Campbell’s played great, Jarrett overall has been very good. Neal has done his job. Everyone else on D (IMO) has underperformed.

Not to me he hasn’t. Neither Tru or Alf  have been god awful, but they also haven’t played up to the standards for what I expect of a championship caliber defense.

Very Few on the D have....yet.

I'm just saying Desmond Trufant has given up 3 embarrassingly easy TDs in the last 4 games to average WRs, while Alford has only given up one TD all year, the great diving TD by Davanta Adams back in week 2.

Not only that but Alford had what would have been a game clinching INT taken off the board against Detroit due to Trufant holding and he had what would have been a really important INT against the Pats taken off the board as well due to a late hit.

If not for those two penalties by other players, people would be seeing Alford's season in a whole different light.

I've chilled off about Alford. But Trufant's play this year...wow
