NFL.COM says we should get Davis from colts.

Seriously just a question but did we even get to the qb yesterday?..it doesn’t matter how good your corners are if the qb can sit back there and sling it

The Falcons had 3 sacks yesterday, forced a McCown fumble, and nearly forced an INT on another play.  The pressure was good.

Yeah when I clicked on the link I was shocked they said it was a CB. They have an article about what each NFL team needs before the trade deadline.

No kidding, the Falcons pass defense ranks 14th.  That's like the best the Falcons pass defense has ranked in 30 years or something lol.

Time's up.

The Falcons ranked 14th in pass defense in 2005.

The last time the Falcons did better than 14th in pass defense was surprisingly enough 1999, when they finished 9th.  But teams were running at will against the Falcons that year and the Falcons were rarely ahead in a football game.

Alford is a ballhawk, I wouldn't let him go for a 4th round value.

He's also a penalty machine. But yea I get it. He also turns 29 in 2 days. If the Falcons believe in Trufant, Collins, and Poole, then Alford is likely expendable UNLESS they move him to free safety. But I just don't know if that happens. Can you see Quinn actually making a move like that?

Around The NFL staff: We're assuming a trade with San Francisco to bring back Kyle Shanahan is out of the cards (sorry, Falcons fans). With the offense still struggling, Dan Quinn's defense must pick up the slack. It's not the biggest need, but adding a physical corner like the Colts' Davis could transform Atlanta's defense. He's an upgrade over Robert Alford on the outside. Becoming stickier on the back end would help elevate Quinn's pass rush. With the Colts headed down the tube and Davis about to hit free agency, it shouldn't cost a ton to pry him away from Indy.

Potential cost: 2018 fourth- or fifth-round pick.

I don't see a team trading for a player who is hitting free agency the very next year unless they are extremely desperate. I don't think we are that desperate. If they wanted him (the falcons) they will wait until free agency next year. It's the reason why players like Le'veon Bell have no leverage when holding out, teams aren't trading for players who hit free agency the next year. The draft picks are there currency, why pay for a player when you can win him for free if you apply patience. Any team, not just ours, would have to be desperate to trade for Vontae Davis.

I don't think the Falcons believe in Collins at all.  I think the guy is one bad move from being cut.  The Falcons didn't give Alford a 9.5 mil per year contract because they wanted to trade him.

Collins has played well when he's been available. He's just been a bonehead. Alford's contract was frontloaded. He basically earns the majority of the money for the first 2 years. After that, it's a low cap hit to cut him. I think the strategy there makes sense. The team has to get ready to re-sign Beasley and Matthews. Jones and Neal will be after that. Alford won't be on this roster in 2019.

I think that would be unfortunate because he is the best player in the secondary.

Collins couldn't even cover guys who didn't make it into the NFL during the preseason.
