Chitown2ATL_Falcon
I said before the game this would be our 1st real test and we failed. The defense is not quite there yet. The defense needs to be able to hold the other team to 24 points or less for us to win our games. If not, then odds are we will lose. I am starting to notice a disturbing trend. It seems like we can score at will on our 1st 3 scoring drives. But then after that, the offense is unable to score or dictate their will. I hope I'm just seeing things or dreaming, but this is starting to concern me. The defense is still a work in progress. It still cannot impose its will when it wants. For us to go to the Super Bowl and win it. The defense has to be able to stop teams and impose their will when it's needed. Then is almost a rehash of the Super Bowl. The pundits are going to have a field day with this. Just watch.

Well their defense did get them 7 points so technically our defense did hold them to under 24 :p

Kaptain Krazy
actually, you're already wrong. The pundits in the post-game show didn't criticize the Falcons at all. Also, the D played very well considering. The O was the problem today. This ain't 1988, there is no D "imposing its will." Denver lost by 10 to Buffalo. Houston gave up 36 and lost. Today was a bad day because the Offense turned it over 3 times. But when a "bad day" ends with a W, you have a very good team.

The Falcons were tested today. The offense, the strength of this team coughed the ball up three times and they still managed to win. That sounds like a pass to me. Lot of things happen over the course of an NFL season and you're going to have ugly games where one side of the other doesn't click and you just gotta gut it out. That's exactly what they did today. WiscoFalcon
Other teams make adjustments... That's football. This is the NFL - you don't score every drive. Be happy we produce a lot of points in first halves of games.

Despite the turnovers the offense moved the ball at will. Not clicking at 100% yet but getting the wins against conference opponents early is huge. D held them to 19 points today down 2 D starters one of them being last years sack leader. The only reason Detroit was in that game were the interceptions. FentayeJones
You dont win a game on the road when you are minus three in the turn over margin if your defense dont play well. This thread makes no sense.
Moist Words
Our offense put our D in bad situations and the defense still **** them to 19 points. What grading scale are you using?

CTann
Sorry man, but costly drops by Coleman and Sanu that led to INTs and eventually 10 points for the Lions (and taking away possible points from the Falcons) is something that kept Detroit in the game to begin with. Plus, Detroit scored on a pick six. Very happy with offense and defense today. Just one of those weird games. Score should have been more like 40 to 17 if not for the "seldom occurring" plays that went against Atlanta.
shockerfalcon
Anytime you lose the turnover battle and still win the game that my friend is a win. 17 of their 26 points were the result of 3 falcom turnovers
