lostnmexico
I think the active roster on gameday will tell us volumes about where we are with the Atlanta Falcons football team. We have 53 on the roster but only 46 actives on gameday. The actives in week one will determine a clearly defined pecking order. Who will be our seven inactives? Falcons Roster breaks down even with 25 Offensive and 25 Defensive Players with 3 Specialists K, P, LS. Need Seven Inactives: I see Paztor, Reynolds, and Kazee off the bat due to injuries. I do not trust Harlow uless they have a pine box with Matt Ryans name stenciled on top. I think two come from our SIX Corners. Goodwin and Oletoya got equally toasted in the preseason but the last spot will be Brian Hill or Saubert the tight end. Looking at that, we are going into Game ONE without a back up OT that has ever played a game for us (Toilolo at Emergency Tackle again?!) and four cornerbacks. We can count on Garland being a two way player again with Hageman out and Sanu becomes the emergency QB. Nerve racking but doable. WR Julio Jones Justin Hardy Andre Roberts LT Jake Matthews Ty Sambrialo LG Andy Levitre Sean Harlow C Alex Mack RG Ben Garland Wes Schweitzer RT Ryan Schraeder Austin Paztor TE Austin Hooper Levine Toilolo Eric Saubert WR Mohamed Sanu Taylor Gabriel Nick Williams QB Matt Ryan Matt Schaub RB Devonta Freeman Tevin Coleman Terron Ward Brian Hill FB Derrick Coleman DE Brooks Reed Adrian Clayborn Takkarist McKinley DT Dontari Poe Jack Crawford DT Grady Jarrett DE Courtney Upshaw Derrick Shelby LB Vic Beasley LB Deion Jones LaRoy Reynolds Jermaine Grace LB De'Vondre Campbell Duke Riley CB Robert Alford CJ Goodwin Blidi Wreh-Wilson CB Desmond Trufant Brian Poole Deji Olatoye S Ricardo Allen Sharrod Neasman Damonte Kazee S Keanu Neal Kemal Ishmael

Ovie_Lover
So you think we roll into games with only 4 corners???? Bruh... nah.. we will have atleast 5. And only 7 olineman?? That's how you get Lolo playing tackle again. And Sanu as QB dude.... I'm not even touching that...
lostnmexico
The Offensive Line is the interesting part as neither of the tackles have played a down for us and Harlow has been a revolving door at left gaurd. Maybe you bump a receiver for a fifth corner but we are playing the Bears in week one and I dont see it. With only two QBs on the roster, who else plays QB if we looseboth QBs? Justin Hardy? lostnmexico
But you see what I see now about how the roster is structured. 53 was the easy target but to get 46 who play covering all the bases is tough. Our coaches have their work cut out for them this week getting Sambrialo up to speed and puting together contingency plans. I love the Falcons and wish we had studs at every position but I also see the need to play match ups. I though about Grace as an inactive as well as Nick Williams but felt special teams more than anything would determine our final actives and felt Grace the more valuable compnent if/when Laroy Reynolds is out. Chicago will also represent a good test for our run defense and I felt the coaches would benefit from having Grace active so they can better evaluate him. Beef
Inactives will likely be Harlow Hill Grace Kazee Olatoye Williams and one of the DL's... Clayborn, Shelby, or Upshaw.

Falcon Ben
Off topic, but does anyone else agree that Gabriel should be the #2 behind Ju, while Hardy should be the #2 behind Sanu? Speed/Speed Hands/Hands Not that we couldn't put Gabriel and Ju on the field together (or the reverse), but for scheming purposes, I'd prefer to have receivers backing up receivers with reasonably similar skill sets. jeffro2000
Likely similar to who you got. 4 on offense and 3 on defense. Most teams only have 7 active Olinemen on Game day. Yes that is why Levine had to play OT one year but 7 is pretty standard. Got to have at least 5 Cbs. No question about that. The way I see it is 2 Olinemen (Harlow/Pazstor) 1 RB (Hill) 1 TE/WR (Saubert or Williams) 1 LB (Grace or Reynolds/injured?) 2DBs (Kazee or Goodwin/Deji??) My guess for week1. Injuries will dictate a lot of this as the season goes on. May go 8 olinemen at times because 3 of them are Vet guys and use to being active. Also Garland getting DT snaps again possibly. By his name. Didn't want to make the post any longer explaining it. I see where Quinn has confirmed that now. Grace will be active then Week 1 then go from there depending on play/injuries.
