birdz4i
James Parks - 68 minutes ago The Falcons see no reason to expose their star wideout The Atlanta Falcons will go without two offensive playmakers in their summer opener. Head coach Dan Quinn confirmed on Tuesday that wide receiver Julio Jones and return specialist Taylor Gabriel will not play in the team’s exhibition premiere against Miami. Though they will not play in the game, both will feature in the team’s pre-game warmups. Jones is fully recovered from his offseason foot injury and subsequent surgery, but the team is understandably cautious about exposing their primary yard-gainer to any potential setbacks, particularly in a meaningless game. Gabriel has been a positive feature in training camp this summer, and Quinn confirmed that he is their favorite to assume the main punt returner job, though has been nursing a minor leg injury recently. Last season, his first in Atlanta, Gabriel scored six touchdowns off 579 yards. Quinn also said that running back B.J. Daniels, tackle Kevin Graf, and defensive end Martin Ifedi will not play in the team’s 2017 preseason debut. http://247sports.com/Bolt/Falcons-will-sit-Julio-Jones-among-others-vs-Dolphins-105903423

The Great American
Julio Jones should go on to Chicago and wait for the team to arrive.

Sit Ryan and Freeman too and still get the W in the regular season! Seriously though, the Falcons don't want any offensive stars on the pre-season field when Suh is playing. He stomps on ankles, knees, hands, whatever is loose. He'll also dive at knees well after the whistle. We see it game after game against them. Smart move by Quinn. SkerFalcon8710
Ok real question, how much has gabriel been practicing? He had the calf injury coming into camp I thought and was limited. I haven't heard anything about him since camp started. Anyone?
