Who was calling the defensive plays when New England ran off 31 unanswered points in a row?

Mark Bradley of the AJC has the nerve to ask " Does it matter? " about Manuel becoming defensive coordinator because Quinn calls the plays. Duh. Maybe THAT was the problem?  You can fire Smith and Cox all day, but Quinn was the one calling that defense.  How could it hurt to let Manuel call the plays after that Superbowl fiasco?  All this fingerpointing at Smith, Cox and Shanahan, but Quinn had a headset and was calling plays also... He should be held accountable for what HE didn't do correctly.

You mean that defense that held the Patriots to 3 points until nearly the 4th quarter?

And gave up 31 unanswered and a cakewalk in overtime. Yeah, THAT defense...

When are people going to understand it wasn't defensive play-calling that got us. The defense was gassed because they're on the field too much.

That same defense that kept shuffling in fresh defensive linemen? That defense? ok... another excuse... That defense was collapsing in the second half of games ALL SEASON.  Me thinks that offensive coordinators get a look at Quinn's defense in the first half, then demolish it after half time adjustments...

Was it Quinn's defensive play calls that made Freeman whiff on the block?

Was it Quinn's defensive play calls that made Weems and Hardy take the ball out from the 1 on those kick offs?

Was it Quinn's defensive play calls that made Matt snap the ball with :20 on the play clock?

Was it Quinn's defensive play calls that made Jake hold?

Was it Quinn's defensive play calls that made Alex Mack's leg so injured he was blown up?

Was it Quinn's defensive play calls that made the offense pass twice from the 22?

Was it Quinn's defensive play calls that made not one, but two tipped balls that could have been interceptions fall into Patriot's WR's hands?

Was it Quinn's defensive play calls that made the offense sputter and go 3 and out after 3 and out not allowing the defense to rest?

Was it Quinn's defensive play calls that decided to run the ball only 5 times in the second half with a 25 point lead?

Get over it.  This isn't only on Quinn.  Is it on Quinn?  Of course but this was a total and complete team collapse.  You don't give up a 25 point lead in the superbowl because of 1 side of the ball.

It was Quinns defense that gave up 31 UNANSWERED...

He's.not wrong . The defense did give up 3 scores in the 4th quarter . They succeeded on all their drives beginning with the touchdown at the end of the third

How many plays had the defense been on the field by then? They were zonked. Freaking Jesus could have down from heaven and called the plays himself and it probably wouldn't have made any difference (though I bet Jesus is a really good playcaller). They were exhausted. Is that Dan Quinn's fault? Kind of, I guess.

Yeah, the same one who was on the field two-thirds of the game.  People need to remember we had rookies playing; whose seasons end after 10-13 games. It was their 19th game. Offense didn't help at all by barely running the ball.

No one is almighty.  You are being called out because you are wrong.  Way to deflect though.

Ok, i'll pretend Quinn wasn't calling the plays when New England came back from 28-3. Ok...

Some people will 1) never bother to noticed it's been discussed countless times already and 2) not bother to consider the entire context only the point they want to make.

The reality is everything leading to 4 minutes left with an 8 point lead and the ball at the 22 was a team sucess. That is exactly the type of situation you want to be in. From that point on, was a total team failure. All we can do is make the adjustments that the FO seems necessary to correct the latter.

The same defense that was missing its DE depth?

The same defense that saw 5 members of the secondary play more than 90 snaps???!!!

Get outta here.
