The board this year

79 posts in this topic

Thanks @Jpowers! We've got each other here man. This is the Brotherhood (and Sisterhood ladies!). This is what we need. Each other. This fanbase has finally found their hearts, although they were crushed Sunday. You can no longer question the heart of a Falcons fan. Everyone saw firsthand the pain and agony we go through. Nobody would willingly sign up for that. This is for life. I'm gonna bring it and I expect yall to do the same. We changed this board this year. It's not a coincidence in my opinion. DQ has challenged this fanbase to be one of the best in the league. They are going to do their part. I believe it. We have to continue to do our part.

My first year posting on the board. got to take my son to the playoff game,  when I couldnt afford to go, thanks SkerFalcon 8710, made some friends who Ill be in touch with  ,  and sure enjoyed this ride with you guys,  the brotherhood is very real here and on the field.  I guess I need to take this time to tell you  guys that Im a  liver transplant patient  at Emory University,  Ive been in rejection for 16 months now,   my rejection has gotten very bad, and Emory has suggested Hospice for me ,  the wife and I  are still going over our options, but  its a very narrow chance that  Ill get to do this again with you guys.  I just wanted to say a whole hearted thank you to all you guys , you made this year very very special, I couldnt have made this trip with a better and more passionette  group of people.   I wanted this one bad ,  but this is gonna be a great team , and there is a SuperBowl win ahead. your thoughts and insightful arguments, kept me very busy .  and some of ya'll just crack me up .  Just wanted to say thanks . !!!!!!!!!

@Slappywhite it takes a special man to go what you're going through by reaching out and telling us about your journey.  Despite the Falcons loss you are a winner my friend, with the heart of a champion.  You always have that and no one can take that away from you.  If we could put your heart and soul into our Falcons, that Super Bowl victory will surely be inevitable.

Brotherhood forever

Man I got emotional going thru this thread. This year was great but you can be humbled really quickly when you realize how precious life really is. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting any of you personally but I wish all of you nothing but blessings...especially you @Slappywhite. You're in my prayers man.

Hopefully I can meet a couple of you at training camp this year. Until then keep your heads up ladies and gentlemen.

Man I started this thread off one way and it took a turn. I think what I'm going to take away from this is that there are actual people behind the avatars. People whose life's are just as complex as yours and maybe even moreso.

@Slappywhite thoughts and prayers to you and your family. I have a family member who has been battling Crohn's disease since he was 15. He's had two liver transplants since then, and is in another state waiting for a third. Also I used to work at Emory University in the Anesthesiology department, and met some great liver specialists while my cousin was going through his treatment at Children's Hospital. You're in good hands. Glad you could spend some special time with your son at the game. I know it'll be a lifetime memory that he will carry forth from this day to his last. Slainte

He is in Omaha at the Madonna Omaha Campus medical center.  He's been in and out of the hospital since moving there this past year. He's a seriously tough dude.  I can never get in a scar war with him because he wins hands down! Thanks man, I'll pass it along to him. He'd appreciate it.

Man, you have no idea how deeply what has happened between you and Skerfalcon has touched me. It's so awesome that you two were able to connect over just being Falcons fans. If you and @SkerFalcon8710 don't have a problem with it I'm going to work every connection I might have from my mod days and other sources to make sure they (The Falcons) know about this.

Edit: please feel free to hit me up in PM if you have any issues. I should have probably done this part there anyways.

Slappy man.... It's hard to even find words to piece together after reading that.  I really wasn't expecting that.  That whole giveaway t85389hing ending with you and your son going to the game couldn't possibly make any more sense now.

Either way it's so awesome to see how great of an impact people are capable of having with other humans. I don't know if it was hard for you to tell this story or not but I'm very grateful you did.  It's not fun but it's ******* real.  And the connections you've made here are just as real.  Internet message boards have a tendency to bring out the worst of humanity sometimes but every now and then you find things that remind you just how precious life can be.

I am pulling for you brother and I hope you'll keep us somewhat updated.  It's none of our business unless you are ok with it but if you are please let us know.

You forgot about @Falcon Moore.

He is very informative and an awesome poster.

The man knows his shyzit. He was also right about Deion Jones in a huge way.

Thanks man.

I had no idea you were going through all that @Slappywhite, but like others have said, it really does make you appreciate what everyone is going through on these boards. I'm so glad you got to experience a playoff win with your son...only a fragment of the Falcon Faithful can say the same. You've got this.

I will say this. I have come off as a jerk and said things I wish I hadn't on this board. Because of the stigma, I never admit it. A lot of folks here are a lot more than a username to me. Some of the most surprising people have helped me to be where I am and become the man I am. A few years ago, I was out of control. I have a learned a lot on these boards. Tolerance being one, but friendship is another. I will likely never explain that last part, but there are reasons for some of the things which can't be explained here. I will say this, you all mean more to me than I have ever admitted. I don't care what people say about it anymore.

I appreciate every last one of you, which is why I have defended "trolls" on more than a few occasions. Its not because I'm a good person. I'm not. What I am is a person who see's a lot of guys with the same motivation. To enjoy a commonality. I appreciate you guys sharing although I have to admit I am pretty heavy right now. I can't defend people I see as family right now. I can't snap at someone, beat someone, nothing. Man I miss Master Exploder. I thought about him the whole game. I just lost my uncle, who taught me how to fight, always was supportive. This is bittersweet. I'm not giving up though. I never give up where family is concerned and won't now.

@Slappywhiteprayer for healing is going up, same to you @SkerFalcon8710. @WhenFalconsWinand @Falcan Moorewe don't know man. Never know. The three of us are within 30 miles. We have NO excuse not to have lunch. Nothing wrong with fans meeting and showing unity.

To be totally honest with you guys,  when Josh ( sker )  made his post , it touched me so much, a young man losing his sight, and having two children he was afraid of not being able to watch growing up, thats heartbreaking.  I told him my story and how much id love to take my son , but wasnt sure I could make it.  I wanted to reach out to him as well and let him know that it was ok to fight back, it was ok to pray and ask god for help , and he had people on his side pulling for him, He insisted I go,  his generosity, his kind heart, Im just a old man who got sick, I watched my  children grow , he's the story here , not me . we've spoken everyday since, and found  a lot of things we had in common , we'll be friends  till the end.  we ill talk each day,   He's a fantastic father, friend and person , and he's made my world a better place since meeting him.

Much appreciated J,we both thank you. In the end its not about recognition as much as it is about finding strength in one another to be able to live our lives and push forward. @Slappywhite spent many long nights over the past month talking to me about all types of things. in the end it has given me a positive perspective on life. everyone on this board has reached out and supported me in my multiple threads talking about my cancer diagnosis. its those words and prayers that has helped me accept and deal with the issue immediately and take a positive stance against it. Dennis has willed his body to an extra 3 years and i plan to will my way to beating my bout with cancer so that i can watch my kids grow up much like Dennis did. we can all find inspiration in one another even if it is just a message board. this place has become a true community this year unlike any year or time before hand. ive spent the better part of 15 years on this board and it has never been the way it is now. I respect alot of you on here and look forward to reading your posts daily. people like @Knight of God @vel@PeytonMannings Forehead have really made reading about football 10x more enjoyable and easier to understand. Its a brotherhood and ive got nothing but love for ya'll
