What have you been right and wrong about the 2016 Falcon's season?

This was a very hard year to figure out. For the most part, the team surprised me.

What i got wrong. ( just about everything)...

Dan Quinn can't pick the right players.

Thomas Dimitroff can't pick the right players.

Kyle Shanahan got to go.

And take Sanu with him.

The Falcons zone blocking scheme is not gonna work.

The Falcons need to trade Ryan and draft Desean Watson.

The Falcons will not make the playoffs.

Vic Beasley is a bust because of scheme fit...

What i got right. (Not too much)...

Coleman is a starter, but the Falcons don't NEED him to start.

The Falcons don't need to ever consider trading Julio Jones.

Alford is the Falcons best cornerback.

Worrilow is still Worrilow.

I wanted the Falcons to draft Neal while he was still a senior at Florida.

Thought we'd go 2-4 to start the year but close out 10-6. Def thought we'd lose to the Saints that first game. Thought Keanu Neal would be Willie Mo 2.0. And that Levine Toilolo should be cut. Wrong on our defense being top 10 by the end of the year, albeit they're definitely trending upwards. Wrong on Derrick Shelby being a breakout signing (injury kinda threw it off though).

Right as heck on Debo, was one of my favorite players in the draft. Right about Shanahan being a fantastic OC and imho the reason we're winning so much. Harder to remember what someone is right about tbh, I barely remember

What I got right

Quinn being a teacher will pay dividends

Matt and the offense would be better in year 2 and he's perfect for the WCO

Beasley would make the second year leap and the defense would have at least 30 sacks

Sanu, Mack, Robinson, Gabriel would be difference makers

Neal, Campbell, Jones, and Poole would start

Debo would be a good Mike

Collins would step up

We will make the playoffs

Worriilow would lose his job but not be cut

The defense would be better

kyke will do great things with a qb like Matt

Coleman isn't a bust

We'd be 12-4/11-5

Oh yea  Raheim Morris would be a good wr coach because he offers a defensive mindset to playing the position  and a different perspective

I was wrong about

 Freeney coming here

what I was right about, Beasley having a better year. Clayborn being legit, Jones being fast enough to have an impact.

what I was wrong about? just about anything and everything else you can think of...

in other words, except for a few things I was actually right about, a typical year for me :lol:

I thought for certain with Katrinabowl goin on this year we'd take an L in NO.

Me too - I'll admit.   I thought they were really setting us up to fail this year.

I thought we would be much better - but definitely did not expect this much improvement this fast or with the youth on defense.

While I thought we'd be better as a team - I also thought because of the competition and the schedule, we'd have a worse record or somewhere around the same record.

I did not really, truly, deeply expect to make the playoffs - but I'm a sap - and I always feel a little hope til it's dashed completely - so I won't say I absolutely did not think we'd get them - cause I always do for a while at least.

This year? I was right about-

Kyle being a great OC

Ryan being perfect for this scheme.

The defense starting off rocky but becoming above average by the end.

Collins being a legit player.

Beasley continuing to grow (Though I wasn't sure he'd grow as much as he did this particular year).

Allen being only average.

JJ being less involved on the stat sheet, but not the offense.

Sanu being a great addition.

Us winning the division.

Guys like Lolo and Worr not being starters but being solid contributors in their roles.

I was wrong about-

Debo being as good as he has been. I never said or thought that he would be a bad player, but I wasn't sure about him. He proved to be a lot better than I suspected.

And Freeney. I was a bit apathetic to picking him up, but his impact on our young guys has been apparent.

Most of all Upshaw. I could not understand why he was playing DT and why he saw the field so much. He looked absolutely horrible to me up until the bye. Then he took off and started playing a lot better.

Wrong about Injuries to any of the starters longterm  would derail or season..

I was more of a wait and see person when it came to changes this off-season. I didn't think sanu would beast but definitely fill a '#2 reveiver' slot.

I did think teco would be the clear lead back even though it's a split system. Free is still our starting rb idc what yall say lol.

Basically everything many on the board were doubting.

I didn't make too many preseason predictions, but I did believe that the offense would be much improved this season and that the defense would be better.

Finally, I bet $300 between two co-workers that we would make the Super Bowl. I'm not really much of a betting man, but I just really feel good about that. I hope I end up being right, and then top it off with a Lombardi. Definitely wouldn't be a bad start to 2017.

I was right in thinking that:

  • Matt was/is still a legit franchise quarterback.
  • Debo and Neal were going to prove to be excellent picks.
  • Rocky could put it together and be quite good.
  • Beasley was better than he looked last year.

I was wrong in thinking that:

  • Shannahan was going to ruin us by being hard-headed (now, I am quite glad he stuck to his guns).
  • Freeney was going to put up some numbers (although he has clearly been worth signing).
  • Sanu wasn't going to have any value (which, he clearly does).
  • We'd draft an edge player in the first (pleasantly surprised. I wanted Floyd, who wasn't available anyway, but didn't want anything to do with Lawson).
