He was the #3 WR for Shanahan as an undrafted rookie in 2014, playing in the slot. That should tell you something about the lack of talent Cleveland was dealing with. He didn't play as well in 2015 under the new scheme, so not surprising he got cut. Browns fans seemed to like him.

My guess is this means trouble for Nick Williams.

Falcons claim Taylor Gabriel

Posted by Zac Jackson on September 4, 2016, 1:18 PM EDT

CLEVELAND, OH - SEPTEMBER 1: Wide receiver Taylor Gabriel #18 of the Cleveland Browns runs on a punt return against the Chicago Bears during the third quarter during a preseason game at FirstEnergy Stadium on September 1, 2016 in Cleveland, Ohio. The Bears defeated the Browns 21-7.

A day after being waived by the Browns, wide receiver Taylor Gabriel was claimed by the Falcons.

In Atlanta, Gabriel is reunited with offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, under whom he played in 2014 as an undrafted rookie. Gabriel could end up getting a chance to handle return duties for the Falcons.

The Browns drafted four wide receivers last spring, so both Gabriel and the Falcons probably knew there was a good chance he would hit the waiver wire at some point.

Gabriel, who’s just 5-foot-8, has played in 29 games over his two NFL seasons and has caught 64 passes. He returned four kickoffs as a rookie.
