Super Bowl or bust

Recommended Posts

We are going to be able to run the ball (we've got Mack helping fill the big gap in the middle of the o-line now and Freeman and Coleman in a system that's perfect for them).

And we are going to be able to pass the ball (better pass protection...plus Julio, Sanu, Hardy, Tamme, and Hooper...and Freeman out of the backfield).

On defense:

Defensive line will be good. Hageman, Babs, Jarrett and Mbu at DT.

Clayborn, Shelby, Jackson, and Goodman at DE.

Reed, Upshaw, Worrilow, Weatherspoon, Beasley, Jones, Wheeler, and Starr at LB.

Allen, Neal, Ishmael, Therezie at S.

Trufant, Alford, King, and Collins at CB.

I think the defense will still need work. We could use a middle linebacker other than Worrilow. Would be nice to have another defensive end who could generate a consistent pass rush and a nose to replace Solial. But our run defense should be strong again, especially with Neal coming in. Pass defense be better...especially when it comes to guarding running backs and tight ends (both Neal and Jones). If we can start producing more turnovers, we will go to the Super Bowl. Sure we have a brutal schedule, but who is going to stop our offense? Two tights end who can catch. Two running backs perfect for a zone scheme...one home run threat and another who can catch everything out of the backfield. Julio, Sanu, and Hardy. No one will stop us.

Three things that will make the team better this year:

1) Fewer botched Center snaps

2) Fewer dropped passes

3) Fewer 3rd and long conversions on D

Still have many positions that need upgrades before the Falcons win any kind of championship, but the above translate into a few more wins.

Nice call my good man.

When this offseason is over, we will have one more big name free agent (hopefully Poe) and a few role players who can add depth (perhaps a backup linebacker and somebody to compete at right guard). And then we will have another huge draft like last year. Getting depth at free safety and a couple of defensive linemen who can contribute early. We will be rotating a lot on the defensive line. And everybody will be celebrating next year when we hold up the Lombardi for the first time. We are not complacent. We are being selective. It's the key to success in this league.
