The Atlanta Falcons today announced their 2016 preseason schedule which includes home contests against the Washington Redskins and the Jacksonville Jaguars, and road meetings versus the Cleveland Browns and Miami Dolphins. The dates and times of the games versus Washington and Cleveland will be announced at a later date, while the matchup against the Dolphins will be played on Thursday, August 25 at 8 p.m. and will be broadcast nationally on NBC. The last preseason game versus Jacksonville will be on Thursday, September 1, and the time will be announced at a later date. WUPA-TV, Atlanta’s CW69, will broadcast three of the Falcons preseason games in 2016 as the team’s official broadcast partner. WUPA-TV can be found locally at channel 1069 on AT&T U-Verse, channel 783 on Charter, channel 810 on Comcast, channel 69 on DirecTV, and channel 69 on Dish Network. The Falcons will kick off their final slate of preseason games in the Georgia Dome against Washington. This will be the 16th preseason matchup between these two franchises – dating back to 1968 – with the Falcons leading the series 9-6. The last time these two clubs met in the preseason was 2004, when Washington rolled away with a 27-0 win in FedEx Field. The Falcons will travel north to face the Cleveland Browns for the first time since 2003 in week two of the preseason. The Browns lead the preseason matchup 6-5 and have won their last four preseason contests against the Falcons. Atlanta faces back-to-back road games as the Falcons will travel to Miami for the second consecutive preseason to take on the Dolphins at Sun Life Stadium in a nationally televised game on NBC. The Dolphins recorded a 13-9 win over the Falcons last season, and this season the two teams will square off for the 15th time – fifth time in six years – during the preseason. The all-time preseason series between the two clubs is tied 7-7. The Falcons will face the Jacksonville Jaguars in their final preseason game in the Georgia Dome. This will be the sixth time in the last seven years and the 12th time overall these two have faced each other in the preseason. Atlanta won the last preseason matchup in 2014, 24-14, but Jacksonville owns a 7-4 advantage in the all-time preseason series. http://www.atlantafalcons.com/news/blog/article-1/Falcons-2016-Preseason-Opponents-Finalized/5c78165a-1d63-49ee-8016-1e8316a91a9c Quote Edited April 7, 2016 by FentayeJones

JDaveG
How this team approaches that Miami game will tell me a lot. They got their ***es handed to them last year. Hopefully they all remember.

Never thought about that. They will only get to see the starters for like 2 series. That does suck.

1989Fan
crap, it looks like CLE is week 2. CLE is a drivable game for me, but not sure it is worth the effort for a week 2 game. Screw it, I will still go.

Game 1 - Lets starters knock off some rust for a quarter & then rookies & guys competing for spots play the rest of the way. Game 2 - Starters play a half, treat this one like a dress rehearsal for the season. Game 3 - Starters play a series to a quarter depending on situation & rest of game used for evaluation of guys on the bubble. No need for 4 games at all. Truth B Told (TRU)
It's refreshing to know that we will be able to see our 1st team offense make some plays against Miami now that Stone will be buried on the bench behind Mack.

Falcon Freddie
If you're a season ticket holder (and I am,) pre-season games are the biggest rip-off in sports. A STH has to pay full price for games where the starters play at half speed and you won't see many of the numbers out there after August. Pre-season games are nothing more than glorified practice sessions. Heck, usually I can't even give my pre-season tickets away, especially for Thursday night pre-season games which are totally worthless. Usually, the only pre-season game even half-way worth watching is game three - and when was the last time the Falcons played a home game the third week? Almost never - check the past schedules if you doubt that. But how often do the Falcons host the fourth game - the worst pre-season game of all? Guess. Indignities like this is one of a number of reasons I decided not to renew my season tickets for the new stadium. 2016 will be my last season as a Falcons season ticket holder. Thank you for allowing me to rant. I feel better now.
