thethirdtate
I swear you guys make me hate falcons fans. Anybody who is "smarter" than TD or DQ would know that what he did in his first year and is continuing to work on... 1) See what talent is CURRENTLY on this roster 2) make the best of what he can use because Rome wasn't built in a day 3) rid the team of dead weight (i.e. Willy "Broke" Mo, Roddy "sir tweets a lot" White and so on) 4) Grab a few players you see fit what you're going for in free agency 5) Follow the only way to win a championship "build through the draft" 6) continue this process while creating continuous competition on the field. I follow seattle sports ports because my father is from there. And this is the formula that put the in the playoffs for years with great drafting and a few signings until the became the legion of boom. Dan Quinn is the coach to get us there and we will win because he's not going to do what the average fan thinks will get us wins. Watch when the Giants, Jags, and Raiders are still mediocre. Then you'll see what I mean. That is all

Then we can fire him if they don't perform lol
The Falcon Jedi Knight
It is true that Rome wasnt built in a day. But it didnt take 50 years either. Lots of other teams have won more in less time than these Falcons.

They have some solid pieces. A shutdown corner in trufant and a lot of talent being placed around. They will surprise people this year with the toughest schedule. Falcster
I just hope that DQ doesn't start repeating, "the process the process" over overtime he is interviewed like Smitty did! That goes only so far!!!
falconfan5832
The previous owner allowed some DUMB things, for example they hired the same guy to be HC twice, and he wasn't that good the first time!True a half century is a long time but hopefully AB will see if you want to sell seats and boxes, you have to field a good team. I agree, these falcon have underachieved for the last few years and peaked about 4 years ago...looks like this staff recognizes this....roddy, baker, asamoah, moore, soliai, and more coming. We are slowly getting our pieces. After all the dead money of this year is gone, we should have a little bit more to play with, probably twice as much as this offseason. Overall, i am cautiously optimistic.

The Giants won two Superbowls! Newflash the Jags and Raiders have better more complete teams than the Falcons. We beat Seattle in 2012 our GM decided to get rid of our best players without comparable replacements which is why we have been in decline. Let's see how Seattle does moving forward now that they are paying these stars or losing them. If they continue to win Superbowls or even get close again I will give you post merit. Dead weight was Brook Reed, Mike Person and L Collins. Edited March 15, 2016 by insight

Which was marginally better than the 2013 roster. 2012---cliff---2013<<2014<<<<<<2015<<<<2016

Trying to ask if a roster is better than a roster 4 years removed is pointless. Might as well judge whether the 2012 roster was successful by if it was better than the 1980 roster. Loony. Especially in the context of what that 2012 team looked like. Veteran team that tried to jump through the window. Didnt make it through. Had to bottom out and start reloading with drafted talent. A few years later and here we are.

So we should have a great team in 500 years or so. See you then.

That was my point to the poster. Seattle made it through their window but largely due to Russel Wilson's cap friendly salary allowing Seattle a chance to amass a large pool of talent without the Salary woes. Atlanta accelerated their own decline by trading away a boat load of draft picks to aquire a few specific players and signing bad contracts like Sam Baker and Thomas Decoud while letting good players like Lofton, Grimes and Abe's walk. Quinn is inexperienced putting together a roster and TD is the main reason why we experienced the rapid decline. Yes we have improved our win total from 2014 to 2015 but keep in mind how few injuries we had last season compared to previous years. Imagine how poorly this team would have performed if Julio missed significant time. Edited March 15, 2016 by insight

They benefited from that but lets not act like that FO hasnt stubbed its toe many many times. 4) I don't think it gets you anywhere to say "imagine what would happen if the team missed its best player" That should be obvious. If you don't understand the past your are doomed to repeat it. The past is pertinent in this equation because we still have the same GM calling the personell shots. Prior to 2015 Julio rarely played an entire season. My point was Quinn was very lucky to have Julio for the entire season because he has had plenty of injury problems in the past. Seattle made plenty of bad personnel decisions the difference was the bad contracts did not put a strangle hold on their team because they hit on so many great players. Every player we drafted in 2012 in not even in the league, you don't think that impacts how the roster looks like now?

Injuries are part of football and some players hold up better against the pounding due to genetics, technique and luck. I don't understand what you are talking about with injury prone trap. It's not very complicated. Either players are able to stay on the field or they are not. Edited March 15, 2016 by insight
