DRAFT 2012

PICK NO.193

WAS.png

SELECTED BY: WASHINGTON REDSKINS

ROUND: 6

PICK (OVERALL): 23 (193)

Pick Analysis: Compton started four straight seasons at tackle for South Dakota, and possesses NFL-caliber size and good athleticism. He is somewhat of an unknown coming from a smaller school, but he has shown the efficiency, smarts and athletic ability to survive at the next level. He could be selected as high as the fourth round.

We still got cap money...  3-5 players are still out there worth getting that aren't depth/bargain rack players...

At least his black dew rag will match the black throwback uniforms....

You follow the cap situation closer than most of us. In your opinion based on the expenditures made over the last 3 seasons do you believe the Falcons  are in a cost reduction mode due to the stadium or do you feel they are squarely focused on assembling a championship caliber roster?

Seems so TD Ishl line moves. I don't know him, hope he turns into a beast and we don't turn into the new Redskins. Shannyn seems to be having his way. Maybe one day one 0f these no name, bargin guys will really turn out to be a player. But my  question is it  better to get 3 sort of no names or take that money and put on one guy who can play?

The Professor is the real cap expert...  In recent years, TD said they want to hold back some $ for a signing during the year...  (That they never made.)

I think this year is better...  But still too conservative...  Roll the dice on Long or Nelson....  Overpay Benjamin, not Sanu...

Mack and Shelby were great moves...  But LB and S need some love...

imho

Remember Washington's current system is not the one RG3 was running when Kyle was there.Matt Ryan struggled to be effective in Kyle's offense because of his lack of mobility. Just from an injury standpoint, Josh Mccown injured, RG3 injured, Matt Schaub injured, lots of the QB's in his system can't stay on the field. I give Matt Ryan a whole bunch of credit for lasting the entire season because he got killed a several naked boots.

That only matters if they were talking about now. Both RGIII and Cousins played in their rookie years.

True, if the comments were made based on how they performed in Shanny's system that would be applicable. I didn't follow Washington closely enough to know how it went down. I do recall that Shanny went with RG3 even when he was seriously injured, if there was a better QB option available it seems like they would have play him.

depth is part of football too guys. good to have a backup OT who knows the system. The C/G from WAS is the guy I was hoping we would get (Josh LeRibeus) for depth/ OG competition.

There's honestly still a good chance that they cut their other G/C in Kory Lichtensteiger, kinda like with Chester last year.

The Redskins have been slowly filtering out all of the lineman who were brought in for the zone scheme since they moved to power.

I am good with this signing.  A 26 year old OL with some starting experience.  He started 9 games in 2014.  Alex Smith had very good protection that year and Charles averaged 5.0 ypc.

Obviously I'm not attributing that to him playing 9 games.  I am just saying he obviously wasn't a complete liability if he started more than half the season and they ended up with those offensive numbers.  I like the signing because he's young, has the build at 6'5" with 34" arms weighing 315lbs coming into the league (listed at 308lbs, probably lost a few to adjust to the zone blocking).

Before anyone thinks this is being too much of a homer, I'm just saying he seems like a really good depth signing at OT.  Better than what we had last season behind Schraedar and Matthews.
