Truth B Told (TRU)
I have to admit I did not watch a lot Clemson games this year like I did in the past when they had Jarrett and Beasley, but I am familiar with Lawson. My question to A-Town or anyone else who is familiar with the Clemson duo (Lawson & Dodd) and UGA duo (Charles Johnson and Quentin Moses) do you think Dodd is another Moses? Someone who had a lot sacks in college but did not pan out in the NFL? When Moses and Johnson came out I thought Moses was going to be the better of the two, but it ended up being the total opposite. I think Lawson will have a career like Johnson, and the little I did see from Dodd in the championship game, he has the potential to have a career like Carlos Dunlap. HaRdH3ad
Bruh u don't see how anybody with 2 eyes would say on a game by game basis that Dodd is a better rusher than Lawson. Forget highlights or one big game, when you look at time from Lawson game after game he putting pressure or affecting the qb. I rather have Lawson. I watched them both a lot (half my family has Clemson degrees) and you probably can't go wrong with either one when you dissect their games. They certainly fed off each other (just as we would want to compliment Beasley) and I feel that neither guy would flourish without a good opposite. They are both close to each other on the scale but Dodd skews more toward the "Pass Rusher" end of the scale while Lawson plays a little closer to the "Edge Setter" end. Lawson is probably a better day 1 prospect while Dodd probably has a bit more upside if maybe just a hair rawer. I'd be good with either one and hope to be though I feel we may go LB (then again I thought we'd get a good one in FA).

Dodd's had much less time as a starter than Shaq and yet he only put up 1 less sack, also, if you did your homework you'd know that you statement on pressures isn't true. Dodd had almost twice the QB pressures that Lawson did last year. You may be able to declare him a one season wonder but, not a 1 game wonder, that's just parroting ignorance. if you're saying he isn't in the same league as Lawson then you'll need to explain all those extra QB pressures with some cold hard facts. No offense intended, just tired of so many people making these statements about Dodd without doing the homework. OP: Dodd and Lawson have around the same potential for success in the NFL. I see Lawson having a few more sacks and Dodd being and overall better player. Equal but different.
Clark Kent™
I think i like Lawson a little more than Dodd. I agree with the Charles Johnson comparison that you see being thrown around for Lawson. Dodd moves a lot better and has more bend than Lawson, but Lawson has some powerful hands and a pretty good spin move for a dude his size. Dodd very could end up on a 3-4 team as a rush LB. Lawson is a no doubt 4-3 DE. I like them both, but, but i'm giving Lawson the edge because he is stronger, more powerful, and still got pressure consistently. He just wasn't a beat you around the edge with speed guy.

Lawson is a little more powerful with violent hands, and he is very stout so he's a natural 4-3 DE. He won't really win with speed but he shows great closing speed and is tough to handle. Dodd is a little more agile. Lawson had a better combine, but on tape Dodd flashes a little more agility and speed off the edge. Has the ability to bend, and he shows fluidity in space. I also like how he sets up the counter move, and he has some good length as well. There are pros to both their games. Lawson may be the better overall LE for our scheme, but I personally like edge rushers that are quicker so it depends. Do you want someone like Charles Johnson or someone who is like Chandler Jones lite?
