AtlantaFanatic
I like to Take Soliai's cut out of the equation because we will need that money to sign rookies. Therefore we should be at about 19mil of actual spending money.

Don't we have the majority of our dead money coming off in 17 - Baker, Asamoah, Moore, Durrant, Roddy? That should be about 15-18 mil. DoYouSeeWhatHappensLarry
This doesnt seem right. We were at ~$20m under with Mack's deal on the books. Then we brought in Schaub and Shelby. I would think we're at like ~$13-14m
Absolute
Shows we are 20M under on Spotrac http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/atlanta-falcons/cap/

Dirtybird3
Any idea when overthecap.com will have the current number?
Dirtybird56
We had 24M at the start of free agency. 19.5 now after the 4.5M cap hit for Mack. The Shelby and Clayborn contracts haven't been updated. We're probably around 13m after those are factored in We get 5M from Soliai post June 1st cut and 3M when Hester is cut early May. TJax is likely on his way out, that's 10M for draft class and rollover. So we still have 13m to play with edit:new cap hit for Mack is 4m so add 500k savings on cap. We structured Mack's contract for a small cap hit this year that balloons the next few seasons, something we don't usually do. Could mean Shelby has a smaller cap hit too, we might be around 15m Edited March 10, 2016 by Dirtybird56
DMT11
Its not counting Shelby or CLay - id put both of those down for 4 a piece - ofcourse we can clear another 9 if we boot Hester and Tjax

HaRdH3ad
It says those reports are generated daily, so unless we signed somebody this morning idk it says we have 23-24 mil left Edited March 10, 2016 by HaRdH3ad
blackredfellow
In any case, go get Freeman, Nelson, and Rueben Randle (much prefer him over Sanu). What a FA that would be!
blizzard_falcon
Spotrac has us at $20,341,397 That's without Clayborn, Shelby, or Schaub counting against the cap I really think the tweet from Albert Breer is incorrect and doesn't even equate for Alex Mack, whose cap hit is $4,050,000 this season. Still, even $10 million would give us room to sign 2-3 more free agents, and then we can cut T-Jax and Hester to free up cap space for the rookies and "emergencies". blizzard_falcon
1 hour ago, g-dawg said: Do we have any monies coming off books in 2017? We have $25,653,742 in Dead Money in 2016. Right now, we're scheduled to have $6,900,000 in 2017 (all from Paul Soliai). Look for that number to go up if we designate someone else (Tyson Jackson?) as a second June 1st cut. But given that the salary cap is bound to go up another $10 million or so next season, we should have quite a bit of money to play with again next year. It's one reason we were able to structure Alex Mack's contract so that the up-front hit was minimal; we knew we could pay him more next year once the dead money for Baker, Asamoah, Willy Mo, Roddy, and Durant came off the books. capologist
With the Soliai cut figured in (and not including the Clayborn, Schaub and Shelby deals) it's at $27 million. Waiting for more details on those deals...

PK Manley
I'd guess cap hits for Shelby and Clayborn at about $6-$6.5 million...$2.5 for Shelby, $3.5-$4 Clayborn. First year is usually lower than average value. Hester would save $3 million, Jackson $1.6 if a normal cut
Leggggggo
What is the word on Hester. At the end of the year I figured it was a lock he would be cut. Are they waiting till they lock in the WR#2 to make sure he is a return guy as well? Seems like they would have cut him already if that was the plan. MilleniumFalcon
It appears the Falcons have the lowest amount of players under contract currently as well (48 players).
