I didn't want Irvin anyway sounds like Trevathan is a strong lean to Chicago over ATL - I believe the agent is just leveraging Chicago with the Falcons. Justin Hardy - little guy Nick Williams - little guy the only big receiver we have is Julio. From that standpoint, don't like the fit of another little receiver in Benjaimin - we need some size. Sponge
I'm really happy he didn't go to the Jags. I was on Irvin's twitter and all the Jaguar fans were ridiculing the few Falcon fans that were begging him to come here.

blizzard_falcon
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Raiders agreed to terms with SLB Bruce Irvin, formerly of the Seahawks, Being dubbed a "pass rusher" by the media, Irvin has just 22 career sacks in four full seasons. He's more of a run-stopping strong-side linebacker and should greatly improve that area of Oakland's defense. He could also be asked to play defensive end after Justin Tuck retired, Aldon Smith was suspended, and Mario Edwards suffered what's believed to be a potentially career-threatening neck injury as a 2015 rookie. Irvin's signing reunites him with DC Ken Norton, who coached LBs in Seattle through the 2014 season. The Raiders had a boatload of money to spend, and have now landed LT Kelechi Osemele and Irvin as free agents. OBXFalcon
Very curious to see the numbers..bet they overpaid out the *** for him. Would have been a decent fit here but he isn't nearly as great as everyone thought he was. Not worth 8+ mil a year imo

isproab
Well, he isn't really a big stat guy. I think athletically he would have been an upgrade to our LB group. I just don't think the Falcons are going to do anything different than they have in the past. I will be shocked if they bring in Alex Mack. Despite being one of the best centers in the NFL and a guy you really expect to transition to a new team, I don't think this organization has the "guts" to do it. They are so scared that any big money guy will be the next Ray Edwards. No matter how big our needs are, we are rarely involved.
DoYouSeeWhatHappensLarry
Not for nothing but did we ever even get reliable word that the Falcons made a play for Irvin? I know everyone connected the dots and all....but do we KNOW we even made an offer? Irvin didnt exactly have a smooth run in Quinn's defense. He bounced between roles and never really had a place. This isnt one that I'm going to lose sleep over at all. And I think LB is a huge need.
