Irvin would be an instant upgrade and I'd be all for it, but in the back of my head I'd be like why the **** did we sign Reed to that contract... What was the plan?

You can use both... Brooks reed is only making around 3 mil this year ... Next year we could cut him and gain cap space.

But this year I think both can be used ..

No doubt, you can use both. What I'm saying is what was the plan, I mean if you now your going after Irvin in 2016 invest elsewhere.

I feel the same way.  After reading about Reed, I am still wondering why the heck we bothered to sign him last year.  The guy can play the run well, but not much else.  How does Reed fit into Quinn's system?

This is a no-brainer for him. He's 29 yrs old so this will be his last big payday before he's washed up and goes to play for Washington to finish his career. Jax is within driving distance of Atlanta so he could come back home whenever he wanted. If I were him, I'm signing with Jax for more money.

Irvin is going to go to whoever shows him the money, he might take a home town discount, but not a substantial one. These guys have a window of time they can play football, and they got families to take care of too.

Thats what I am thinking too, Jacksonville isn't that far away. They got a fatter wallet. That said i'm not sold on Irvin at 8-9 million per anyway.

There's still nothing that says Jax is willing to vastly overpay for players just cause they have money.

Caldwell is a TD guy. I doubt he wants to send them into cap trouble in one offseason.

Theyve got a TON of young talent they're going to need to pay over the next few years.

Yes they have tons of money, but I don't think that means they're gonna be foolish with it.

Didnt they have a boatload last year too? And still wouldn't give Suh an offer he couldn't refuse. The cap isn't a one year deal. All the big guys they sign will impact them for years to come.

Florida has no Personal income tax so the Falcons have to clearly overpay Irvin in regards if he has down to Jax and Atl.

This is true, but the make up that lost revenue elsewhere. Irvin would probably still save money but other taxes in Florida are higher than GA I believe.

Florida will get their money. It's not like they just completely turn away 4% of all earnings.

Exactly.  Jacksonville is not that far from Georgia and he played under Bradley for at least a year as well.  I think playing in Atlanta has some appeal but only see him sacrificing so much.  I fully expect him to be in Jacksonville at this stage.  Not that I was as in love with the prospect of signing him anyway.
