FalconofShadows
I could be wrong but isnt Schaeder(sp) a RFA and need to be tagged for us to keep him? did I miss it am i wrong or are we letting him test FA?
k-train
They have until the 9th to decide what to do... Likely a 2nd round tender which counts as a $2.6m cap hit
autigerfan
Why not use some of our cap space to resign our own. Waiting will only cost us more coin.

Falconsfan11
If someone wants to give us a 2nd round pick for him I'd be ecstatic about that. He is a very very good player but RT are not that important for the most part

Give me a second round pick so we can get better on D sign Long for a 1 year deal at RT AND address RT next year. Please let that happen That actually sounded way less stupid, so I'll give you that. But I would still prefer we didn't do that. But I'll grant you it might be an interesting experiment if we were playing Madden. I do think right tackles are more important than you think, though. We have the ability to assign an original pick tender or 1st or 2nd. The higher the pick we assign the higher the 1 yr. salary. Any team that signs him to an offer sheet we have the ability to match or we get the assigned draft pick in return. Pretty simple concept. I'm just curious why we have never approached some of our core players about a long-term deal rather than waiting until they approach UFA. Once Cordy Glenn, Kelechi Osmele and Russell Okung sign the price is only going to go up. By re-upping now we are assuming some risk if Schraeder regresses but locking in a lower average salary more than likely.

Halsey.
Few people on these boards liked Schraeder until he was talked up by PFF. Now it's hip to like him.

You've said Irvin might have declined other offers. Seattle didn't need to make Bruce Irvin any offer. They could have picked up his 5th year option, made no offer, and Irvin would have played one more year in Seattle for about $7 million. But they didn't want him. I know your brain is broken, but just try. Edited March 7, 2016 by ShanghaiDirtyBird

And so you talked to him about a long term deal, but you couldn't agree on a price. WHY WOULDN'T YOU MAKE HIM PLAY ONE MORE SEASON FOR $7 MILLION RATHER THAN POTENTIALLY LETTING HIM WALK? Just answer me that. Since you're soooo smart and I'm so stupid.
