Falcons coaches ask Eli Apple if he likes men

Recommended Posts

Ohio State cornerback Eli Apple played his high school ball across the river in Voorhees, New Jersey so he stopped by Comcast SportsNet's Breakfast On Broad on Friday to talk about his potential future in the NFL.

The topic of strange combine questions came up. And he certainly had an answer.

"I've been asked a lot of weird questions. I don't know if I could say on TV," Apple said.

"The Falcons coach, one of the coaches, was like, 'So do you like men?' It was like the first thing he asked me. It was weird. I was just like, 'no.' He was like, 'if you're going to come to Atlanta, sometimes that's how it is around here, you're going to have to get used to it.' I guess he was joking but they just ask most of these questions to see how you're going to react."

Not sure how teams think these sort of questions are a good idea.

At least they didn't ask him if he thought any of his relatives were hot, I suppose.

UPDATE: The Atlanta Falcons have released a statement from Head Coach Dan Quinn:

“I am really disappointed in the question that was asked by one of our coaches. I have spoken to the coach that interviewed Eli Apple and explained to him how inappropriate and unprofessional this was. I have reiterated this to the entire coaching staff and I want to apologize to Eli for this even coming up. This is not what the Atlanta Falcons are about and it is not how we are going to conduct ourselves.”

Cox shoving a cardinals scout. Cox did apologize the next day.

Not this one is kind of odd to me. And makes me wonder if this is even true. I would just think there is some questions you would not be allowed to ask. And I'm sure the nfl combine has recordings on all rooms.

I would consider these interviews formal HR meetings, and man, that one is so far out of bounds legally speaking, it's not even funny...

I sent my HR hiring packets thru two HR directors at other companies for review before implementing them and I'm basically limited to work history only, and even some of that is off limits!

Yeah, that's why it wouldn't surprise me. Dudes crazy.... I don't mind that though. He needs to quit it with the questions IF it is him.

About as stupid as "are you are cat or a dog."  Honestly the entire draft process has become an abomination with this sort of ******** line of questioning highlighting how silly most if it has become.

Despite all their best efforts, they fail as often as they succeed in predicting a players outcome in the NFL.

Ryan Shraeder and many others like him just point out how failed the draft process has become.
