THEHEADCOACH
I feel the OP understands it is possible for us to fix our problems. Thing is, he has no faith in our front office actually doing it. We are known for sitting on our hands and scraping up leftovers. We over pay those players most the time. I think most everyone wants us to be more aggressive in FA and the draft. Stop hunting the secret steal or the miracle turn around and get good players. Being aggressive gets players like julio and Abe. Doing the alternative has you over paying players like Jackson, Dunta, Edwards and drafting players like Southward,Jerry, Collins(who the jury is still out on) ,Konz, and even Baker was a reach in 08. (He was said to have to short of arms to play LT and we drafting him for it) . and who thought it was a good idea to sign Baker to such a big contract when he had one decent year, stayed hurt all the time, and got be out back a back up that was better than him and who we let walk the year before. Then we sign Osi and cut Abe?!? We almost had a pass rush, but we messed that up too. All this is just matters of opinions, but all things i said the minute they happened. Noone can deny they all bit us in the butt. Now we hire a coach to fix our defense, but he brings Shanny with him. I dont think his system is so bad, he is ,and it just wasn't a good switch for us. Its not that we can't do good moves, its because we wont. We never do. That's why there is a lack of faith. And for all you, " i dont want to spend that much , because i dont want to be in Cap ****!" Folks, we are already in cap ****! We have one of the least talented rosters in the NFL and yet we are not loaded with cap space. We should have alot more cap with this poor roster. We have julio, Ryan, & trufant. The rest are ok or horrible. We dont have many good players. We are loaded with dead money. We keep overpaying these left overs in FA, we will have more too. If you gonna be in cap ****, might as well have something to show for it. We need to be more aggressive with proven FA and do not draft early round miracle projects for now. Shanahan was Broncos OC from 84-87 before getting the Raiders head coaching gig in 1988. After being fired just 4 games into the 89 season who was it that gave Shanahan another coaching job? Reeves. Shanahan became the 49ers OC in 92, Reeves was still the Broncos HC in 92 and was fired after that year. Shanahan didn't get the Broncos HC gig until 95. So please do explain because I'm eager to hear about this. If anyone backstabbed Dan Reeves in Denver it was John Elway. Elway and Reeves were like oil and water. It's a borderline miracle they lasted together as long as they did. Kyle Shanahan did not ruin RGIII. RGIII had one of the best rookie seasons in NFL history in 2012. What ruined RGIII was Mike playing him on a bum knee. Not Kyle. There you go trying to rewrite history. Everybody knows that Shanahan AND Elway plotted behind Reeves back. Elway wanted to throw the football in Denver, and Shanahan used that ANGLE against Reeves and got Reeves booted out of Denver. Didnt work. Elway didnt win a chip until Denver got that RUNNING game going with Terrell Davis.............

How did Mike Shanahan get Dan Reeves fired in Denver when Shanahan was not even in Denver when he was fired? I said if anyone was to blame for Reeves getting fired it was Elway because him and Reeves never got along. If Shanahan was the reason Reeves got fired then why wasn't Shanahan hired to be the Broncos HC when Reeves was fired? Why was two years with Wade Phillips? The only one rewriting history here is you.

I hold them both responsible for what happened. Heck, Reeves HIMSELF does. Elway himself is MORE responsible than Shanahan, i get that, but Shanahan was in cohoots with him. The same thing just happened down in Tampa Bay with Koetter and Wilson. The only thing different is Tampa Bay is waaay more slimy than anything Denver has done. They bounced Lovie and immediately hired Koetter. The Broncos hired Wade Phillips because they wanted to work on that defense. Elway didnt want Phillips. The problem in Denver is Elway never got what he wanted UNTIL Shanahan was hired. I agree with that part of what went down.

A lot of what happened in Washington had nothing to do with Kyle and everything to do with Mike. Kyle didn't do anything in Cleveland that was wrong. It wasn't his fault the GM was texting him plays during the games. I don't remember hearing anything bad from Kyle's time in Houston. Dr Long Shot
The only thing offensive, or criminal about what happened is the level of stupidity that it implies about our coaching staff.

On a side note, i wanted Bowles and Chan Gailey. Bowles because he can get pressure with exotic blitz packages, and Gailey ( who Bowles hired), because Gailey wouldve been the perfect match for the vertical receiving game that Jones, White and Douglas flourished in. Kyle is too slant and receiver screen oriented for me. Edited March 6, 2016 by slickgadawg
