Nah, that was the year of the new CBA. Teams couldn't talk to their players. He was just as available as Edwards. There was even a report of us calling him, but it got too rich for our blood. 4dabirds
I would take CJ or Mario. I think CJ could (maybe) be had for less than Mario. CJ was released, because he has a huge cap hit this coming season and had some injury issues. However, CJ showed up big in the playoffs. I say go get em. GeorgiaBoyz
Vic Beasley + 1st round (pass rusher or pocket pusher) + Big Money or Super Mario. Sign me up.

Falconsfan567
It cracks me up how the loudest posters about the Falcons lack of pass rush are also the loudest against bringing in a proven pass rusher like Charles Johnson or Mario Williams. The hypocrisy is ironic.
Gold4425
You don't give him super money or let him intrfere with going after other targets he is going to have to keep it real. But he is a very good option, experienced, homegrown, comes from a winning program and can show our guys a thing or two about rushing. He has made good money so he should be in a position to take a lesser contract.
1989Fan
since Mario and CJ were released, I really wish we would bring them in and kick the tires immediately before UFA opens up. Another thing is Olivier Vernon is under the transition tag, so we can still make him an offer. There is no compensation due if the Dolphins choose not to match. Just find a way to 'poison pill' the offer. That is what Jax did w Alex Mack when he was transition tagged, but CLE still matched it. That is why he had the opt out option. He plays well in the playoffs but I don't think he could be a full-time starter at this point of his career. If they had a younger guy to sub out with him to keep him fresh that would be good. His numbers declined when Houston switched to a 3-4 as well. We've seen this story before. When he's allowed to attack the qb he is a double digit sack guy every single year. AndySG
If you don't think that CJ is a huge upgrade then I don't really know what to say. If we could get him for under 8 then I would be down. He's 29 not 35.

They just released Clemons and now have approaching 90 million in cap space. Word is, they're going all in on FA this year, since time is running out for that regime to make a difference and not be fired.
falconcrest58
I wouldn't give up the ranch but Charles Johnson was hurt most of last yr. He would be better than anybody on the Falcon roster and has plenty left in the tank at 29. He's a double digit sack guy when playing a full schedule. I say YES and do it now before the draft. Add Mario and let AC walk.....draft a lb

Johnson had 3 sacks and 2 forced fumbles in 3 playoff games. He is far from "done." He is only 29 and had 8.5 sacks in 2014 and 11 in 2013. We need to bring either Williams or Johnson here... two guys we missed out on last time they were FAs. He played really well once he came back. I looked it up and he was on temp IR and missed 8 weeks. He can move inside and play UT on passing downs or an ideal 3-4 DE in that type of front. People are pretty picky on this board. I think most love suffering because they get to complain or something.
