HEIST
Would be a good move. Would be kinda interesting to see him and Scho getting after the QB after this

If we want to talk money they'll both probably get paid around the same amount with Charles being 2 years younger.

The Falcons and all of their fans would kill for someone to have 7.5 sacks during the 2016 season. We have a young pass rusher in Beasley and will likely draft another one. Who is going to be what Roddy was to Julio. Roddy has said many times that having Joe Horn help him become a better pro and WR. I'm not saying someone like CJ would be just a player/teacher, I think they can contribute during the game and on the practice field so it is a win-win. I don't really care if it's Charles Johnson, Mario Williams, or Chris Long. I need the Falcons to figure out who can still play, has the right mentality and isn't expected to break the bank. I've already seen the Falcons try to bring in guys at the end of their careers who show signs of breaking down. Another thing that concerns me with Johnson is that he won't be playing next to those two monsters Carolina had in the middle. I agree that I want to see the Falcons bring in someone but I'm REALLY tired of them trying to bring in 'bargains' for the pass rush. I've watched that strategy fail for the past 8 years and I'd like to see the pass rush actually improve for a change.

CraigSmackDaddy
I'd rather have Mario but wouldn't complain at all if we pickup CJ. I think both are better options for what we need rather than Danny T.

WHat I seriously wonder, at this point is CJ worth more money than re-signing Clayborn? Clay was pretty darn good once they finally moved him back to DE. I would be fine with any of the 3, but still would want to see another DE drafted in the top 2-3 rounds.

I was about to ask you the same question. Idk man.. I think CJ gets 8 a year or more. I'd be down for DT and CJ over Mario if you're right but otherwise I'd take Mario over either of them. jeffro2000
I prefer Mario but he would be cheaper and possibly wants to be here. I think he may be on the downside if his career though. He did look good in the playoffs though. He had the injury, and took him a while to get back going. I feel the same way about JPP. He will also be cheaper than Mario. He had the injury, took him a bit to get back going too. He was very disruptive last yr and should be better this yr without the club. I would like to have 1 of the 3. I've watched that strategy fail for the past 8 years and I'd like to see the pass rush actually improve for a change. I hear you. I do want a top pass rusher, but there isn't really one on the market. I wished we would have made a play for Mario when he left Houston. I wanted Charles Johnson when he became a free agent. I thought Peppers still had something left when he went to Chicago. I would hate for our pass rush woes to continue into 2016 and we didn't do everything possible to fix it. I'm not 100% sure that CJ, Long or Mario would be just like DeMarcus Ware. I also can't say I'm 100% sure that they will not be. We need pass rush, make the changes to get more pass rushers. Bruce Irvin is there too. He is not a big time sack guy, but he has some versatility that could help. Make a move in free agency and in the draft. The O.D.B
shoot, I'd pick him up just so I don't have to watch him sling Matt to the ground anymore. I also believe he still has plenty in the tank for a few years. Some of you guys forget that we have Vic and ...........

jidady
Just to bring some metrics into the conversation, PFF rated Charles Johnson as +7.6 this past season. Johnson was also the second best Carolina defender in the Super Bowl with a grade of 3.6, trailing only Kony Ealy's 5.4. PFF had Mario Williams at -13.2. He was 19.6 and 12.9 the previous two seasons, so I'm inclined to say it was a scheme fit issue combined with a personality conflict with Rex Ryan, the bullet we dodged last offseason. To a larger point, either of these acquisitions wouldn't cost against our compensatory pick calcs, which puts a check mark by each of their names. UnrealfalcoN
I remember someone on the boards (maybe KoG) talking about an inside source saying we're planning to sign a defensive player we pursued in the past but gave up early for. For some reason I keep imagining CJ
